Hi everyone, I am reviewing my contract and I am not sure how Rivian arrived at the numbers.

Vehicle with options is $77,700
It appears that they are adding 7.75% tax on $78,885 which is a figure I cannot determine how they got ($1,185 more than $77,700). How did they get $78,885?
Tax should be on the total vehicle price of $77,700 correct? $77,700 * 7.75% = $6,021.75 but they are saying tax is $6,113.59

Also, for #3 Documentation Fee / Dealer Preparation Fee the asterisk says
*Colorado Dealer Preparation Fee: this charge represents costs and additional profit to the seller/dealer for items such as inspecting, cleaning and adjusting new and
used vehicles and preparing documents related to the sale.

I am not in Colorado. I am in California. Is that $85 charged correctly?

Did you calculate on your own based on your local rate? Maybe they are using the wrong location for tax rate?

Rivian doesn't do well showing their math. Disregard the Cash Price of line 1.

What is the price of the R1 model + wheels + paint + underbody, etc.
Add to this value the Destination Fee and Documentation Fee.
This should equal line 6(a).

The total price of the vehicle with options is Line 1 = $77,700
Add destination fee of $1800 and Doc fee (do I get charged this if I am not in Colorado?) of $85. $77,700 + $1800 +$85 = $79,585.

In your purchase summary, one page below the page you screen shot, what is the "Vehicle Subtotal"?

For Example: R1S White with 20" bright, no PPF, no underbody, etc. $77,300. Dest Fee. $1,800. Doc Fee for Colorado $450. Line 6a would be $79,550.

I think I see what they did. They removed out the options of $700 and then taxed the options separately at $54.26. They removed the $700 from the total price of the vehicle so added tax. Then added tax of the vehicle + destination + doc fee + options. Roundabout way.

If in doubt, you can always contact your guide. I know I did when I first saw the numbers and had the same question.

My favorite is the Colorado question…
That being said the calculations seem correct for California.

$700 is your accessories, it's taxed differently. What's that breakdown? Show that page.

My prep fee was $225 (Pennsylvania). I'm guessing that the Colorado wording is a legally required disclaimer on the document for Colorado, so it is worded like that on all of them for Rivian's convenience. My agreement says the same thing.
