Hansshow and EVBase are now selling and delivering Automatic Retracting Running Boards, but has anyone successfully installed them? Please share!
I bought a pair but the instructions are very limited. There is some install work to do I haven't got my head around yet, so I'm looking for a little help.
Anyone found R1T wiring diagrams? Where should i wire into the 12v power supply? Also need to find the wiring for doors opening and locking, instructions say its Can-H and Can-L which I believe is behind the lower dashboard center panel.

Don't all Rivian models have kneel mode? Why would anyone need running boards?

Kids and short people exist. Kneel is still pretty high off the ground.

looks like only 1 pic is real the rest are photo shopped, would like to see it in action with video to also see it retracted, the only real pic is with it extended.

my parents and my young daughter are so grateful for the running boards. I don’t bother with knee mode which I believe is unnecessary stress on the suspension system

in addition to helping my kid get in, I use the running boards to stomp / kick off snow and ice off my shoes and keep out of the cabin. It also makes it a lot easier to put stuff on the roof rack. Had one on my wrangler, and love it on my rivian too.

I am interested in these as well.. so if you do install them, I would be very interested to hear how it goes and your impressions of them. My one concern is they are (another) App driven.. not tied into the truck to automatically deploy upon opening a door.

I’ve always had automatic running boards on my previous trucks. AMP Research or factory. They have all been great. I have the EV Sportline boards on my Rivian and learned that I don’t need automatic running boards. Had them for about a year now. They are huge, overbuilt, well designed, and make all the difference. In standard ride height they are perfect for me, my 4, and 6 year old.

Kneel mode is great, but it is still a big enough step that still doesn’t prevent me from slightly sitting on the bolster while I slide my butt in. With the running boards I can sit down into the truck and not “climb” into the truck if that makes since.

I tried kneel mode and it didn't work out. There's too much delay after hitting Park and if doors are opened too soon, the kneeling stops. The running boards are a must have for my family, and it's really nice to have an extra step to bridge the gutter gap to the sidewalks during heavy rains. In addition, I can leave the height in AP high mode for local driving and have no problem getting in/out!

yes agreed, makes me a bit nervous that they don't show it in action and customer support is not helping. feeling like the guinea pig here.

I agree, the delay makes kneel impractical, my kids are usually trying to open their doors even before the truck is fully stopped in the garage. When we get back from sports stuff and they're hungry for dinner, the extra 5-10 seconds for kneel mode is definitely a stretch. Also, when I'm driving someone who is not a regular rider in the car and they would benefit from kneel mode, I end up acting like an insane person and yelling "don't open your doors yet!".

What we really need is automatic kneel once you open your garage door, or a way to toggle it manually as you pull into a spot.

In the meantime, the rock sliders / running boards make things much more comfortable and safer for everyone.

I don't know that automatic retraction is needed. DCE indicated they saw no real degradation in efficiency. So you're just adding extra weight and complexity for not much benefit IMO.

Yes, it can be improved in some situations, especially with geolocation for the programmed garages so the kneeling can start early enough before car has even stopped. I've also tried "announcing not to open the door" but it doesn't work when the passengers are outside and in a rush to get in :/

I'm also curious about efficiency hit. I can't tell if there is any drop because temps are much colder now, so I'll have to wait till next spring/summer to compare.

There is a video from Hansshow.

Look to hang down pretty low when retracted.

Would be cool if went to lowest setting as you are coming to your destination, or a toggle on the steering wheel button. My wife always stops it.
