Do you know that, or is it wishful thinking? Did you also buy two Rivians? As far as I know, I have more data than most here. My service center is still booked out four months, which tells me a lot, too.
Sounds like it might be more of an issue with your particular service center. Even if it made it out of the factory this way the service center should have caught it before delivery. It sounds like maybe yours is a little over-booked.

This is my second Rivian and the second one to have poor quality control. I'm two for two. That makes me pessimistic on the future of Rivian, to be honest.
Have you heard of "Tesla"? :)

I have noticed that all the plastic edges are sharp. Don’t slide your fingers when you appreciate the details.

Minor yes....just too bad it takes Rivian 4 months to fix it. That is more major....
I think that makes it a minor problem that’s taking longer to address than you’d like. It may subjectively be a major annoyance, but a missing piece of aesthetic trim is still objectively a minor problem.

Sure...a minor problem that in a business in control of its service side of the business could likely fix in a week or two. So yes....a minor problem for sure. Which only highlights how much service needs to improve for Rivian to be competitive in the future.

I think it comes down to perspective. I have a ticket in for several minor issues, and the appointment was booked for 6 months out. I am fine with that because I specifically wrote in the ticket that these are minor issues and I explained to the service writer that I don’t mind waiting since people who have major problems are naturally the priority.

I agree with you that service response times should improve, and I expect that Rivian will improve over time. In the meantime, I’m trying to be a reasonable person by being realistic about urgency which factors into priority.

edit:typo

I agree. Just needs to keep improving.

I do think they should look at differentiating somethings too....not just..
..this one is dead....get it in front of line.....this one has minor issues so kick can down road.

Things like a missing trim piece should be handled like "we will get one on order...you can stop by in a week or two...and we can have someone quick install it".

This car is one day old. Watch for cuts, everyone!

Quality control still seems to be nonexistent.

I had the exact part missing at delivery also, but the kicker…. the part was in plain view on the back seat. Nobody noticed until I brought it up.

Fixed on the spot. No other issues with the truck.

I think they need to leverage partner labor, too. In a case like this, it seems like they should be able to say that they can get you into a service center in 3 months or they will ship the part to your nearest Rivian-authorized body shop where they will install it for you within 2 weeks. I imagine that if they pay the body shop for 1/2 hour of labor to pop that part on everyone wins: customer gets issue resolved faster, body shop gets $$$ for a 5 minute appointment + admin overhead, Rivian builds good will with customer and saves on loaner/rental/ride share expenses.

I don’t know everything involved so it may be more complex than that, but Rivian should be able to cut down on at least some of the trivial stuff clogging up their service centers.
