Just got off a chat with Rivian. I own a Tesla Model 3P. One of my favorite features of the model is having the ability to either Pre-heat or Pre-cool the car remotely. Living in SoCal, we get hot in the summertime. By going on my Tesla app, I can pre-cool the car before I leave my office. I use it every single day its over 90 degrees. I get to sit into a fully cooled car and drive. One of the things I hate about my Tesla is the lack of ventilated seats. I love that about the R1S. I just found out that. Rivian, at this point in time, does NOT have the "pre" function as part of the software suite. Big bummer. I'm posting this on the forum in hopes of reaching those who view it and creating a buzz that Rivian will hopefully see and as a result, write a program that allows Rivian owners to Pre condition our trucks and SUV's. If any one of those who read this have a way for this to gain traction and get it to Rivian, I'd love to be. a part of the process.
thank you

I assumed the R1’s would have this feature so thank you for the info. Every one of my vehicles has had remote start so this has a +1 from me. I’m sure not everyone would utilize this feature of course, but I sure would.

That's a huge disappointment  I live in the cold and we defiantly need that along with programable so if you start everyday at the same time it knows to have the car at 72f seems like a simple programming app change.

That is something that can be added as an OTA update. My Tesla did not originally have it, came with one of the updates.

I live in SoCal, really do not use it that much, nice feature to have though.

This doesn't bode well for features such as pet-mode either. These kinds of features are, as RJ would say, "table stakes" for an EV. I could deal with not having them at launch if we knew they were definitely on the road map for a future OTA update.

I think y'all are reading too much into a statement that the vehicle does NOT have some given feature. All that means at this time, pre-release, is that the information on any given capability is not yet released to the public.

Thanks for sharing, I had not heard this, but not surprised as we really have not gotten a lot of details from Rivian. One would hope this is added very soon! Along these lines, really wish Rivian had spent some effort on a heat pump vs resistive heating which will really impact range in cool/cold weather.

Don't get hung up on the heat pump thing. At the ambient temps Rivian wants to be able to operate in, heat pumps run into their own limitations. Plus, Rivian has implemented a few crafty thermal management tricks of their own.

I didn't assume. I asked a Rivian employee directly. I asked for Pre-conditioning and "Dog mode" I have a Yellow lab that goes many places with me. So I wanted to know. Rivian said the vehicles do not come with it at launch. And yes, they can always add it later, hence my request for people in the forum that care about these perks find a way to let Rivian know we want this feature.

Agree...but I sure wish Rivian would actually share some information, ie. battery management! I love these videos that Duck is sharing...the raw/personal are better than Rivian's production short films. Really hoping Rivian opens up with more in-depth info as September deliveries are coming soon.
