Not true....the adapter is "dumb", and Fords are charging just fine with the 3rd party adapters (even though the claimed the same thing that you have to wait for the official adapter)

From my understanding the official adapters may take months to arrive, and Rivian may be imminently enabling access. Some people have already tested and been able to charge their Rivian's with the third party adapter by setting it up as a Ford in the Tesla app

As of this morning Rivian is supported so you do not need to trick it.

problem is Tesla is the supplier for all the adapters. And Ford customers are being told the chargers are back ordered through August or later. It doesn’t bode well to get an official charger anytime this year for us.

For people just placing their A2z orders. Use StateofCharge or Rivian discount code but change the currency to CAD. They have only reduced the discount code for USD but if you order via credit card and select CAD on website, it gives full discount at checkout.

If I were going on a road trip, I'd pay the $200 for the charging options.

It does sound like a more reasonable approach, however, you have to remember customer psychology plays a big role in keeping the R2 reservation. Last thing you want is a customer get pissed on a $200 adapter and lose an R2 sale. People wont interpret this from a supply/demand perspective but rather Rivian being cheap to meet its bottom line.

it should look like this:

Rivian app on Google Play hasn't been updated since Feb 27th. Maybe it doesn't have the update yet. Can't scroll past Networks. Nothing there.
