I'm having inconsistent behavior with some Rivian features and wanted to see if this is just how the vehicle is or if I have a defective vehicle. I got the latest update.

1) Seat cooling setting doesn't always stay on. I always want it on when I start the vehicle and sometimes it's on when I start and sometimes it's off.

2) PAAK sometimes work even if my bluetooth on my phone is off.

3) After 120V outlets are turned on in the settings window they often turn off on their own. I then have to go back into the settings window and open it again. After that it stays on.

4) "Roomy entry and exit" only works sometimes. It's so inconsistent I decided to turn it off as I was tired of having to manually push my seat forward from time to time.

Also regarding the 120V outlets is there a way to have them turn on whenever the vehicle is on? It seems the only way to activate them is with the by deep diving into the menu and accessing manual timer.

The seats don't stay on between drives. They will, however, stay on for short stops. Don't ask what 'short' is; Rivian didn't define the length of time that qualifies as 'short'.

And 120v outlets have a timer associated with them.

Thanks. Well that's annoying. Hopefully a software update in the future will "remember" the last used seat ventilation setting on the vehicle. No vehicle I've ever owned resets it randomly.

I understand the outlets have a timer. I was wondering if there is a way to have them turn on when the vehicle starts similar to how outlets work in other cars. Having to deep dive the menu to get my phone fast charger to work is ridiculous. It also doesn't help that there is no visual cue to know they are even on. You have to test the outlet yourself of deep dive the menu just to confirm.

There should be an icon on the center screen when they're on.

2 happens regularly to me.

I had something else happen a couple weeks ago. Walked up to the car with family, paak was active. All doors unlocked but drivers side was dead. The mirror didn’t fold out, door didn’t and puddle light didn’t go on. Waited a min but nothing. By son had to climb in and open my door. Even while in the car nothing would happen on drivers did. I restored seat/steering setting still nothing, put in drive nothing. Had to unfold mirror from shortcuts and drive home. Haven’t experienced since!!

Same happens to me from time to time. I think just a random glitch.

#2 listed in original post happens all the time. I can't figure out how to stop it and have just given up. The car never sleeps since our garage is right under our kitchen. The car thinks I want to go for a ride every time I walk in the kitchen. Basically just like the family dog. :)

It's annoying because I worry that all the whirring, gurgling parts are going to wear out faster than they should, and the battery is wasting energy. Next EV I get will have a proper on/off switch. This "always on" nonsense is quickly becoming a deal breaker for me.

Rivian, if you're reading these threads, this is a serious problem that's annoying and confusing a lot of otherwise happy customers. You need to figure out a way to turn off our cars when we want them off.

What deep diving are you doing? Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and select camping. It should be right there.

My polestar 2 functions quite similar to Rivian but has capacitive sensors in the door to start the wake process. Unlock the car by sticking your hand in the handle while holding your phone-as-key or keyfob. Sit down in the seat and the car comes to life. Has less than 1% drain per week.

IMO, Rivian's issue is primarily architecture driven, not specifically anything to do with there not being an on/off button. They waste too much energy just leaving the vehicle in a sleep state where it will remain responsive to phone-as-key or the key fobs instead of having some way to trigger the wake-up through lower power means. I'm hopeful this is one thing that's getting addressed with their updated architecture they are retooling the plant for.

#2 happens even with Bluetooth off.
I think this is also a security issue. Because I turn off my Bluetooth after I park. Incase someone steals my phone they shouldn't be able to unlock and drive.

Numbers 2 and 4 are regular occurrences with Opal (our R1T). Both are intermittent and happen as the mood strikes her. She also has a problem telling SuEllyn and I apart as far as which one of us is about to drive her. Since Opal is otherwise so good, we just deal with her gremlins.

Same happened to me yesterday for the first time (have the car for 2 weeks only).
Had to lock and unlock from the Riv app to solve it.

Doesn't the PaaK "disable at home" feature works?
I haven't tried it yet.

I guess it’s more common than I thought. For me I tried everything I could think of to open the doors, but nothing worked.

It’s a no win situation for me. I used to disable paak at home but then got annoyed by having to take out my phone to get into car. Now with it on, every few mins I get an alert from my garage cam, because the car unlocked / locked as my wife and I walk around the house with our phones. My wife’s office is next to garage, so that’s constant and to get to my office the hallway is above the garage. Same happens when we are in my son’s room, directly above the garage. So now I have to tell my wife to close the app, but usually that doesn’t help as the car still senses it. I think I will turn paak off at home again and see if that’s less of an annoyance. Just me piling on and venting.
