Since I want to keep my 20s, looks like I'll have to do an stop on a 250 mile run, does anyone know if I can use the restroom of a Sam's club, or I need a membership to get in ?
You can always use any Costco or Sam’s club bathroom…as long as you are faster than geriatric Merle and Charlie that are checking receipts at the exit.

I've never researched a vehicle with this level of detail before, so almost everything is stuff I hadn't considered prior to reserving the R1S... but if range is one's biggest concern (and for me it's NOT), would getting the 20" wheels and replacing the AT tires with road/street/whatever tires ultimately be better than the 21" wheels regardless of tire type?
Better still, take the “free” 21’s and buy 20 inch rims and moderately aggressive AT or AS tires. Will cost you less than the $3k upgrade cost for ATs.

Does this mean the 22s have similar range to the 21s? I'm trying to decide what to do. I have gone from 21 -> 20 -> 21 in the past week. Back to 21 yesterday due to range.
According to the Rivian web site, 22s could get a 5 to 10% hit so assume 285-300.

We will not really know until some people start getting them in their hands and start reporting back. Unless you are at the beginning of the deliveries, I am sure there will be some real world results reported on these forums once the deliveries start.

If you currently have an EV, you can probably have a good idea where you will be based on EPA, I was always able to gauge my ICE vehicles when shopping by looking at EPA and using what I usually do against them, it was a pretty consistent percentage based on my overweight right foot.

I will say for Tesla Model S, in the last 44K miles, we get 94 % of EPA without trying to be conservative. In the same car in the last 4K miles, my wife is getting 103% so regardless of the setup, you can adjust driving habits to get better range when needed.

I read you are able to actiavte/deactiavte 4WD motors on demand - so does any one know are these range estimates based on 2WD or 4WD ?

Sry, disregard post, looks like someone already posed that question.

I will either fly and rent a car if I'm in a hurry or spend a few extra 30 minute stops and enjoy the adventure. This will be my first full BEV so my plan is probably full of holes.
Nope. That is a fine plan. Just got our Model Y in March and did our first big trip (6k miles) last month. The Y has 326 rated miles, so pretty similar to the R1T. We stopped more, but it was never a big deal as we let the dog and kids get out to stretch, snack, and use the facilities. If I were still in my non-stop drive days, it would add a lot of time. If you are good with stopping for 10-15 minutes more frequently with full food stops, the driving is actually quite relaxing. It does add time to the drive, but our typical day went from 10ish hours to 11ish hours or so.

Aren’t these the 20s?

I have also heard in these threads multiple times that CS said the 20s won’t have aero inserts but I do remember them from very early on.

As a Huge CF nerd I would may a Huge premium to have those on my 20's even if it make minimal or 0 impact lol.

Would you need a special tool to remove those? Else, the neighborhood "kids" would probably keep prying them out for their collection like they do with my Z4's Roundel.

I am pretty sure the mounts would have to be built into the wheel where you screw in each one making wheel casting costly and the inserts costly. In theory a great idea but not worth the price unless they can find a easier mounting solution.

Like a lot of people the hit on the 20s isn’t a huge surprise but I was hoping the 300+ would be on those wheels given the marketed use of the vehicle.

As a Tesla driver I have zero concerns when it comes to highway trips (we look forward to supercharging stops actually, breaks the trip up). My concern is that I will be using the truck off road, sometimes fairly large distances from any infrastructure. So it’ll be highway drives out, but then up up and away into the sticks. Looks like it’s time to run some scenarios to see how sweaty I’ll be on the return trips back to a charging station or home. Might have to spring for the Max.

14k CDN for the Max Pack here in the Great White North. This is pushing my build well into the 6 figures after taxes…ugh

What are the difference from "Road" to "Sport" tires? Also are the 21s an aero insert or is that all rim? Absolutely hate hubcaps.

Are all the tires A/S except the A/T? Tesla likes to stick Summer tires on the Performance models. That immediately means a 2nd set of wheels required for us midwesterners.

My guess would be stickier rubber, and possibly not a low-rolling resistance tire on the sports. Tesla was putting the Pilot Sport 4S on the P model 3’s from what I understand, which is an all season tire but definitely a far cry from a winter. I’d be shocked if Rivian opted for a true summer, but it’ll most likely be a performance oriented A/S.

I’d say if you opt for the 22’s you’ll definitely be looking at winter rubber and potentially a second set of wheels in a more available fitment if you live in the land of the ice and snow. There’s really no substitute for winter tires, or at a minimum a snowflake rated all season. Can’t even drive some of the highways up here in BC legally without it between October and April.

What about a/c and audio system? This will be my first EV so sorry if that’s a dumb question. Wonder how much effect that’s gonna have on the range. ?

This is definitely a bit unknown. Easy enough to figure out going to/from the "sticks". But guessing what the consumption is while you're out offroad is going to make for some adventures initially for sure. I really hope Rivian has some predictive abilities included in their routing/mapping software to help people estimate energy that energy consumption in some way.

Audio system will be nothing.

People will tell you the AC will makes a difference but I can tell you in my experience living in SoCal, I see no noticeable difference when using the AC and I drive out to the Coachella Valley (Palm Springs Area) a lot in temps during the summer between 100 and 120 so use the AC a lot.

Biggest hit for me is how heavy my right foot gets.
