V4 SC Nearly Commissioned

I have a V4 Super Charger somewhat close to me in Buellton, CA.

I had read that it was nearing completion so I paid it a visit after a ride near by.

The configuration of the dispensers is very impressive—the units are mid stall and the cables are nice and long. There is an integrated Magic Dock, as seems to be the case with all of the V4 dispensers I have read about.

Transformer and power cabinets are all there. I wonder how long before they actually energize. The engineering team purge might slow things down. I have heard that sites that are already underway are due to be commissioned, sites that have not yet broken ground are paused.

BTW, the V2 that it replaces was among the first—commissioned in Summer of ‘13

I always transport my bike without the computer. Paranoid that it will fall off on the way to a ride. If you don’t record the ride, it doesn’t count.

I am usually really good about pulling the computer off, but realized I didn’t yesterday when I looked in my rear view mirror! And now it is forever immortalized in the forums.

Would be an expensive pot hole if that got ejected.

The engineering work is done, contractors do the actual installation so with v4 probably not much need for product development or R&D people at this time.

Those are V4 dispensers on V3 chargers. V4 chargers will support 1000V which none of the current superchargers do

I think the key features for most folks on V4 are long cable, MagicDock and credit card interface. Whether the cabinet is V4 is immaterial to most at this point, since very few vehicles support >400V (CT, Lucid and Hyundai/Kia are the few).

I am not sure if the Wilsonville has MagicDock or card reader. I'm not sure if all V4 dispensers are the same.

Almost certainly a V4 dispenser on V3 backing charging circuitry. Good for cable length and Magic Dock, but not helpful for 800V vehicles.

Not as far as I have heard. V4 dispensers, V3 cabinets. These cabinets were still bagged.
