Hey Rivianers! I’m stuck between standard gloss white and XPEL Stealth White. Help me decide please ?

First two pics are gloss for reference others are XPEL white.

Seems tough to let go of the XPEL deal. Anyone that has the stealth/wrap if you can comment on pros or cons that would be helpful please. ??

Update 5/19: Looks like the voters have spoken Matte it is. Thanks for everyone who made their input.

That pearl effect looks really nice. Wonder how that would look on my Limestone...

So I got matte…
Pros
Protects your expensive vehicle some against rocks and debris
I get TONS of compliments on my matte wrap.

cons
Is expensive if you do it after you take delivery…

I LOVE MY XPEL STEALTH WRAP

Thanks for the input! Yeah Im getting it through Rivian. I will say it’s pretty dull looking in white compared to some other pics I saw on here. Not sure if it will improve with a good wash or something but I was hoping for a little shinier look in white. Everyone has gloss these days so I definitely like the fact that’s it’s different.

Go stealth! The satin matte finish it gives imo looks amazing! Mine is midnight black and I get many compliments on it all the time!

I think this is a personal choice, what you like better.
I myself have nothing but XPEL gloss on my EVs. My R1S got it, too, and as always, with Opti-Coat Pro+ ceramic coating.
The pro's of gloss: it is might shiny with ceramic coating; it is not matte
Matte for me is so dull so what-happened, so lacking something.
The gloss and ceramic coating stay mighty shiny for years, and I use Opti-Coat washing, which is waterless (one bucket of water with solution, that's it).
Wondering how Rivian installs PPF, not sure it would be my choice.
The professional installer on my R1S had to do paint correction in a couple of places on my brand-new R1S, not even a month old. He even ripped PPF off the frunk because he felt that he had overlooked a spot on the frunk that needed paint correction. And he installed PPF and ceramic coated it on every shiny piece on the R1S, not just painted panels. Indeed, the only parts of my R1S that do not have PPF are the plastic panels along the bottom, dull sides of bumpers, and the glass roof. I tend to think that Rivian perhaps will install PPF on painted panels only. It is a stunning masterpiece, what my XPEL installer did.
In my opinion, Rivian is good at building great vehicles; I am not sure it is or that I would trust Rivian to do my PPF. I always will go to the real, certified pro's for that who have done that for a living and for many years. The other great advantage of doing so, the warranty. The professional installer is local, and should something ever happened to the film, anything at all, for life, his solution is "just bring it in." Cannot beat that. Total piece of mind and convenience. Rivian could not match that.

I think you are ignoring a great opportunity to zig while everyone else is zagging. NO ONE has bedazzled their Rivian yet.

Gloss white if Rivian is doing it.

Stealth white if you’re getting it done after delivery by a reputable shop.

If you have a choice, I recommend the latter.

Being in the middle of making these choices as well so the topic is relevant. I’m planning on testing matte or gloss at a local shop once I get my truck as colors make a of difference.

Here’s my thought. From reading reports and looking at photos of delivered trucks, the factory PPF does not seem to wrap edges all the way. The is may not be as relevant for a clear wrap but it can be an issue for stealth wraps since the color distinct is more dramatic between matte and gloss when the edges of the wrap eventually lifts (this happens to even the best edge wrapped application and will likely happen more for pre-cut kits Rivian is using). Another thing to note is the local certified shop will have 10 - 12 yr warranty on their PPF vs 5 for Rivian and without the hassle of trying to get a service call.

Took delivery of my RS1 Thursday. Getting it wrapped starting on the 30th. $5,500. Seen vehicles wrapped in both. Stealth looks best!
Awesome congrats on the ride man! Great choice definitely post some pics want to see how it looks.

Why because they’re installers? The wrap looked perfectly I’m sure they have installers that are certified that do it.

Hey thanks for the info good to know. It’s a lease so don’t care about anything after 3 years. And to be honest Rivian did a great job on this wrap the edges look fine I didn’t notice anything that stood out or looked improperly done. Not to mention it was 5k wrap for free. Kind of hard to beat that even if it has minor imperfections. Remember the xpel has warranty so if it has any issues you can get it redone at a shop. I wouldn’t do it but you literally could peel a section and they will redo it for you if it was obnoxiously bad. Just saying.

Because Rivian typically doesn’t wrap edges, and it’ll probably look weird with a stealth wrap if you don’t wrap the edges.

With regular PPF you won’t really notice those issues unless you look hard for them, so it’s probably ok to let Rivian do their thing and save a couple bucks.

Getting it stealth wrapped after delivery by a reputable shop will also likely cost more, but it’ll include a better warranty.
