While waiting for my Rivian supplied one, I bought a Lectron version several months ago hoping it would arrive before my eclipse to Texas. Instead it arrived last week
So I tested it two nights ago at a Tustin , CA Tesla supercharger. Picking a time after 9 pm, the station wasn’t half busy. So I don’t think I annoyed anyone - in principal
All went well and as expected the Rivian app connected with no problems and reported the $10 of charge (20KWh in SoCal pricing!) as a test. I started at about 60% full and the initial rate was 175KW/hr. I ended at 78 when I got to 80%. Similar to Rivian and other superchargers .
the amusing part was removing the NACs side connector from the cable! It was sticky! The spring on there is very tight. So I had to use a Swiss Army knife small screwdriver to push the connector enough. But it came off. But what silly stress!
While this is not the broken Lectron version that came out earlier, I will be bringing a small screwdriver with me when I use this thing next time when I can’t find a Rivian or other charger.
My cursory inspection of the Lectron ‘typhoon’ shows that the locking clip needs to pressed down a lot to open. A really strong spring in there that hopefully will give as time goes on.
now where is my Rivian supplied one (VIN at 12,000 or so)
