Got a Lyft scheduled to take us to the airport at 1:30. Fly to Richmond (staying at a motel down the block from a Waffle House, so I know what's for dinner--it involves the words "scattered, smothered, and covered"). The nice folks at the Richmond SC are going to fetch us tomorrow morning so we can pick up "Ms. Frizzle"--our Compass Yellow R1T with Forest Edge interior! I know that plenty of folks on this forum literally waited years for their vehicle, so the fact that I've had a very restless month (put down the deposit on May 6) won't get much sympathy. But it has been quite a month!

There have been several postings by people who got "the call" days or even hours before taking delivery telling them of a delay. If I were to get such a call today, I might need medical attention!

Thanks! When I adopted my (current) dog, she had been fostered for a solid year. I walked into Petsmart to buy a toy for my other dog and she gave me _that_ look from inside her cage. I instantly froze and called my wife and said "we have another dog." Sometimes, the right one is just waiting for you!

Congrats. I did a First Mile ride out of the Richmond SC quite some time ago, and it was a very positive experience. Hopefully it will be the same for your delivery. And great that you adopted a dog. My daughter has two white Shepards, both adopted, and my wife and I adopted two dogs over the years. Sadly, both adoptees have passed.

As luck would have it, I'm also picking up a Rivian today, an R1T out of the Mahwah, NJ location. Thankfully no plane ride needed to get there, though at 130 miles distant, it's not exactly around the corner.

My delivery experience with the Richmond team was excellent. I had a similar situation: I routed a flight to RIC returning from a business trip to take delivery, and they were very reassuring that everything will have been inspected ahead of time and ready to go for me, and it was.

I hope both of our delivery experiences will be smooth! Multiple members of this forum have commented very positively on the quality of the team in Richmond and my interactions with them have been 100% excellent--friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful.

All of my critters are adoptions/rescues. My dogs have all been purebreds: I am completely certain that the parentage of every one of them has consisted of nothing but "dog." We're down to only one at the moment ?. I refer to her breed as "Illinois Butt-Setter." The cats, on the other hand, do seem to be at least slightly cross-bred with demons of some sort! I'm ready for another dog. Not actively looking: sooner or later, the right dog will cross my path. There are so many terrific animals out there that need homes! (I betcha if I ever meet up with @COdogman I'll come away with a new dog!)

It is, indeed a demo. I'm incredibly pleased with the find: it's my favorite color combo--both the interior and the exterior have been discontinued; by my best estimate, I'm saving something like $25k; and it's been "broken in" but not broken down: about 8,000 miles of relatively gentle use with a care team keeping it in tip-top condition (the power tonneau _works_!).

Uh, can you tell I'm excited? Trying to stay cool!

Hope your delivery went well yesterday @Laserboy1054; mine certainly did. The entire process at Mahwah, NJ (actually an interim delivery/service location) went very smoothly. The Senior Field Guide who handled my delivery was very knowledgeable and couldn't have been nicer.

The fit and finish of my R1T was very impressive, though the vehicle did have a few minor panel alignment issues. I'll stress "few" (3) and "minor" (two not easily noticeable and the third a small, perhaps 1/16" mismatch at one corner of the tailgate). Repair tickets were created on the spot and I'm sure everything will be easily corrected in the near future. I intend to post some first driving impressions elsewhere on the forum, but to say that it was impressive would be an understatement.

Apologize for hogging your thread. I'm pretty certain that your experience was at least as good, and very likely even better than mine. Best of luck with your new Rivian.
