I know there are threads about this, but, more warnings can't hurt.
Cliffs notes, is, they will not accept responsbility for the damage, but they're still sending me a check that covers 75% of the cost, and I'm Ok with that.
Full story.
Truck is 18 months old, 2nd set of tires, the only places that have jacked up the truck are Rivian and Discount tire. The damage is the same stuff we see with all discount tire errors, they put the pucks where the bolt holes are NOT in the jacking point.
The problem with my claim: As someone who went to discount tire solely because they are Rivian partners and because I trust them as a customer who's used them for 30 years, I did not expect I should have to watch their every move specifically after asking them in each occasion do you have the pucks, I feel one error was, not asking do you know where to put the pucks*
2nd problem, I have been to 3 discount tires, never once did I check underneath after because...........why would I, right? does anyone go check under their car after service, nope, no one does under normal circumstances. I had a mobile service appt with Rivian because one of the panels seemed to be hanging down *I thought maybe a connection point came lose, he is the person who discovered the damage many months after the last time a discount tire touched the truck.
Overall, I'm only a little bit bummed it's not completely paid for, but I'm a LOT thankful they are covering 75% of it. At the end of the day it can't be anyone else who damaged it, but, had I saw them jacking it in the wrong spot, OR, checked underneath after each appointment (I have had 3 appts at 3 locations) I would know which store did it. And these stores get dinged individually with a claim which is why they didn't want to take responsibility if they could push it off on someone else.
This is simply another warning, don't trust them, either put tape over the holes, remove the puck covers ahead of the appt, walk with the actual tech to show him where to jack them or have them show you where they will jack them, now I would consider this common sense after we've seen multiple warnings, my damages occurred between 6 months and 1 year ago, the fact that they gave me a $350 payment is actually more reassurance that they are trying to make it right.
