R1 Shop Strategy (any tips or tricks)

Hello community,

I’m looking to find my ideal R1S configuration (or something close enough) in the shop ASAP.

Are there any tips or tricks you know of for finding a match? Should I be checking the shop at 3 a.m.? At 5 a.m.? Are certain days of the week better? Currently, it seems like different zip codes have the same inventory, but are there any that tend to have a better selection (I’m willing to travel!)

I’ve tried holding onto a horseshoe and four leaf clover each time I refresh my browser but it’s not working.

Also, the filters seem occasionally wonky and I’m wondering if folks found them reliable.

I am hoping for a performance dual with Max (and some options)—they get snapped up quickly! (And, yes, I might resort to a dual motor with the hope I’ll be able to upgrade it.)

Any guidance is appreciated. After all, how can I fritter away time on this forum if I have to check the Shop constantly?

Make a list of 4 possible vehicle builds you would snag in a heart beat.

For me it was 4 launch editions with either black or white paint and either 20" AT or 22" sport bright so I can get the LE discount. Ocean coast seats and Rivian underbody shield were non-negotiables.

In your case your non negotiable is Performance Dual Max. Figure out what interior and exterior options you like. You need to be flexible on some option items like compressor, roof, wheels etc.

Make sure you're on the same page with your family and when you find your unicorn, don't snooze on it. Snag it ASAP and start the 8 step process.

Performance Dual Max will be like Launch edition during my time in the shop. Demand is high, supply is low and everyone is refreshing right along side of you to snag it like it’s Black Friday shopping sale.

Everyone is looking for the Performance model especially pre-order voucher customer who would end up paying more for the upgrade after delivery.

Thanks for this suggestion! It took a little fiddling to get it to work with Rivian's website but it alerted me to the exact config I was looking for (dynamic sunroof + premium audio) this morning and I was able to grab it before it disappeared.

Of course! Glad you were able to score the vehicle you wanted! We didn't get the premium audio but I'm really kicking myself, hopefully it doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get an aftermarket sub in the standard audio version.

I found this thread pretty helpful. The Rivian Roamer site is pretty good though it seems like in most cases you may need to travel to get the best deal. Once you book/buy that vehicle in that zip. I assume you do have to go there to pick up? and once you get closer to delivery, I assume they meet you at the closest service center in that zip?

I haven't taken delivery of my '24 R1S, tentatively scheduled for Saturday, but looking like Monday is more likely. I ordered from the shop last Saturday. I just kept refreshing and watching, same as others. Non negotiables were discussed and when the spec popped I jumped on it!

-2024 R1S Quad Large, El Cap Granite, Ocean Coast and Sport Brights!

Sad that Saturday is more than likely pushed but so excited to join the Rivian club!

I paid the $9 to sign up for changedetection.io, which can automatically check and alert you to changes in a website. It’s not very user-friendly so it took some trial and error to configure it correctly with the appropriately filtered R1 shop search page but I did that on Monday and by Tuesday morning I had an email that something changed- which was in fact because a dynamic sunroof + premium audio R1S (dual max) had appeared in the results. Picking it up on Saturday!
