A little clarification...HOLD or electronic brake activation is accomplished by a small gearmotor located on the inboard side of the two rear brake calipers. This is common on many cars. After the Rivian comes to a stop, these motors press the inner brake pads onto the inboard side of the rotors, causing the calipers to equalize the pressure on both pads (unless caliper gets stuck), causing the rear brakes to lock. Since it is not done hydraulically, the movement of the pads "sucks" the brake pedal down the same distance it would have moved if you had pressed it, because there is no air in the brake lines.

At what point do the brake LIGHTS come on. Worried about a rear-end when someone behind me does not see brake lights. And I got stopped for not completely stopping at Stop sign...I believe I was fully stopped....curious...

It is clearly indicated on the driver screen when your brakes lights are on.
No more needing to test at night and watch the reflection of your brake lights in passing street signs.

Their illumination is based on a specific deceleration.
