Wtf is this? Found it hanging on suspension

After parking for a few mins in town (I snapped a pic because I thought it was cool to see the matte vs standard el cap side by side)…

I drove away and while going over some bumps I heard an odd metal on metal rattle. Almost like chains dangling. I freaked out, researched what it could be and freaked out some more.

I took the car out over an intentionally bumpy trail, heard it again and with the suspension fully jacked up, looked around. I found this hanging from the front passenger side upper control arm. Just dangling around…it wasn’t attached to anything, literally just loosely hanging off the horseshoe shaped arm.

Does this make any sense? This can’t be part of the suspension. I’m checking to see if Gary captured anyone messing with the car because that’s the only explanation I can come up with. Please let me know if I’m missing something!

Wow. No, but I recently picked up the car. It’s 2 weeks old. The clanging just happened for the first time. Guess I’m lucky it didn’t cause any damage - feels like it could have made a mess of things.

That's almost certainly from the service center. I'd be asking them why it was left behind from delivery, and if there was any work done on the vehicle prior to delivery.

Probably left accidentally when they were performing last minute checks prior to delivery/pickup. I’ve seen it happen before to other owners. I left one on my Mini Cooper after a DIY brake job. Keep it or toss it.

A hanger for the brake caliper. If it’s left over from the SC prior to delivery it’s worth asking while they had the caliper off.

Could have been left from manufacturing and missed by SC during pre-delivery inspection. Even if it caused damage, it's on Rivian to make right. Every company has workers who make mistakes. Submit ticket/feedback so they know to be better.
