Did Gen 2 custom builds just get delayed? ?

The delay may not be just for custom orders. i pulled the trigger on a similar config on June 8th from the shop. Even though my account still says 1-2 weeks for purchase process to open and shop still says 1-6weeks delivery to Denver SC zip code as of today I will not be getting delivery within that 6 week window. On Friday July 12 I reached out to SC and they tell me my config is delayed, and suggesting the dynamic roof may be the issue??? I got the impression that perhaps a 4-6 week delay may be expected.

The other consideration which is my pure speculation is that perhaps a few early glitches may have been found with early production Gen 2 vehicles - as was pointed out by a few posts of G2 vehicles delivered in late June. If that is the case I would not be surprised production is slowed until those issues are resolved and I am being patient - just in case that is the real cause of delays.
Can confirm, Gen 2 very glitchy.

I might need some help from the group on this one...

While I'm waiting for Customer Support to define what it means when my Custom Build status is "Processing Estimate" (and not expecting any sensible clarification), I received a message from an Inside Sales Guide at Rivian. (I've never received an email from anyone other than Support, so this is perhaps promising?)

The Inside Sales Guide sent me an email last night saying "I've located a VIN that matches your config... let me know if you want me to match this Rivian to your account since the VIN is subject to be reallocated to another account."

He also said, "... I'm available to discuss our available inventory and delivery timing with you." And provided me a link to schedule something on his calendar.

Admittedly, I am confused.

1. If there is truly a VIN that matches my Custom Build order, why wouldn't I want to match this VIN with my account? Is there something I am missing?

2. Why would he want to discuss "available inventory" with me if they have found a VIN that matches my Custom Build spec?

TIA for any thoughts.

Something seems off. I have been unsuccessfully trying to get someone from Rivian to provide me with an update for 10+ days. I’ve yet to receive a single response.
Just got an email "Get ready for your digital purchase process" but fulfillment status is still "PENDING_FULFILLMENT" with "Processing estimate". Not sure if it's just another hook.

I received this email today too but my order status still states configuration confirmed and estimated delivery August-September.

I also received the 'Get Ready for Your Digital Purchase' email a few hours ago. Config page hasn't changed for me—'Configuration Confirmed' and 'Processing Estimate.'

I'm thinking of sending a text to the Inside Sales Guide to see what's going on.

I'd schedule a call with the inside sales asap to get more info. As you said, take the matching VIN unless there's a catch. I've been watching the shop in case a match or substantially similar build appears in which case I'd switch to a purchase from shop since it seems like they are relatively consistent on 1-6 weeks delivery for shop orders.

I also don't understand why this wouldn't be standard procedure to match shop production or custom builds that were canceled with matching custom orders. Using rivianroamer.com, I saw that an exact match to my custom build was seen in the shop listings 10 days ago apparently. How was that not matched with my pending order?

Anyway, it's encouraging to see that folks are starting to get emails for the next steps. Nothing here yet but hopefully soon. Good luck!

Likely just the process relies on good intentions rather than mechanisms.

Rivian's unprofessionalism is beginning to wear on me.

* I had a meeting scheduled with my "Inside Sales Guide" after he sent me an email saying he found a matching VIN. He stood me up. Never called me when scheduled. Also never responded to a single email or text. Not a single reply.

* I am still waiting for Customer Support to tell me what it means to be "Processing Estimate." Still no response after multiple days.

What the hell is it with this company?

I really wanted this to be a good experience. I'm coming off a Polestar lease and I can't deal with another completely incompetent company. It's one thing if a vehicle has issues; it's another thing entirely if a company's employees are unable to perform their jobs.

I'm now left wondering if I seriously need to consider another vehicle. Ugh.

I just did the same thing using Rivian Roamer and found a shop build that had 95% overlap with my custom build and swapped to it - thanks Rivian Roamer!
