Good morning.
I'm almost 3 months into my Riv experience. This past weekend I was called upon to pick up a group of kids and then drop them off at each of their respective homes. About 3 stops into the uber experience, the car failed to recognize the presence of the iPhone as my virtual key. I had to embarrassingly exit the vehicle with my iPhone and walk away from the car until the car locked (with 4 kids still in it).
Anyone else have this experience? Is there a fix, or an setting that resolves this?

It happened to us once - my wife had to re-add her iPhone as a key. She was able to unlock it from the App and then get in and put her phone back on as a key. Was your phone low on battery or something like that? We've had our R1S for a year and this has happened only once to one of us.

We each carry a keycard in our wallets just in case...

I feel like there should be a disclaimer for all new owners carry your key card as a CYA. Ive never had that happen personally but I carry my card for incase the phone goes dead or is lost or something.

I’ve been having issues with my PaaK. It’s so frustrating that something so basic (starting and driving) doesn’t work every time. This system should be rock solid. It’s like owning an old beater that you’re never sure will start when you go to drive it. I have very little confidence that it won’t leave me stranded or unable to leave the house. Prior to these issues, key card access wouldn’t work at all. I don’t care much for anything else if I can’t rely on the truck to ā€˜start’ and go. I can’t imagine being far off road and having this happen.

Absolutely. Phones can brick. Software a fail. Keep a card on you!

Our R1S is in the shop for HVAC replacement and our loaner is a virtually identical R1S (I have to check the VIN to see how close they were at birth). I'm grateful to have a Rivian loaner so this isn't really a complaint, but my wife and I are getting lots of experience using the keycard to use the Rivian. We only have one keycard and I hadn't really thought about the fact that we wouldn't be able to use our phones as keys with the loaner. It works, but we'll really appreciate PAAK when we get ours back! Also - to see if I remembered to plug it in I had to (gasp!) walk to the garage to check!!!
