My half-shafts are opposed to the idea.

I'm verily confused by this.

We already have launch mode.

Put your Rivian in Sport. Stand on the brake. Stand on the gas. Release brake. Vehicle goes 0-60 in whatever speed your tires are calibrated for. That's a launch, no?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but "Launch Mode" will simply give you a tad more telemetry info on the screen and besides that there's likely zero benefit or performance delta between having a little yeti to swipe up the screen and just doing what I just said.

Don't get me wrong. More Gary = More better and all that, but...this seems like a whole lot of asking for some pretty graphics, no? If you really need all of that telemetry, get yourself a RoadBox and rock on, my good people!

And potentially actually could result in less performance w/o using a dedicated "launch control".

As Dark-FX mentioned bean counters....bean counters could say....ok....add "Launch Control....but let's keep track of every use....and make the non-launch control full throttle about 90% of what it was....save warranty money".

Might be be best w/o a "launch control"...

Promise has been made, sure. Warranty beancounters might say no.

Id imagine it would be no different than now in terms of torque limiting etc if anything because they know people will use it I would imagine maybe even some built in safety torque limits so people arent full sending all day.

Yes but no. Launch mode temporarily disables the 112mph limiter in gen 2. Gen 1 quad runs ~11.6 in the 1/4 mile but I think without the limiter it should be very close (if not already in) to the 10s.
