Brand new R1S Gen2 (premium sound) owner here. @Spamthechans first curve is a real game changer for me - something still sounds a bit off or overly compressed on Dolby Atoms tracks in Apple Music, but the improvement is night and day. Hats off to ya! The speaker break-in phenomena is an interesting theory - will see how this changes over time.
Thanks guys! Glad it’s helping. Interestingly now that the speakers have broken in (?) using my first curve doesn’t sound as good as my second curve. Will continue to update…

Very interesting. For reference I'm probably at < 10 hours of use, and the acoustic properties maybe seem to be changing a small bit...

I’m no audiophile so I can’t really comment on this concept of speakers “breaking in.” But what I think is happenjng is that our ears are getting used to shitty sound. Just get into a Tesla and listen to anything to “QC” your ears.

Speakers definitely can have a break in period.

For another reference, the difference between the R1S and my wife’s X5 used to be night and day. Now the difference is a lot smaller.

How many hours would you say you've been driving/listening to music so far?

Wait it out. Between the speakers breaking in, and upcoming software updates, in a month or two we'll all be laughing over how obsessed (and ready to call the car a lemon) we were over this issue.

The problem isn’t the sub. The sub slaps. The problem is the mid range speakers.

How is 2024.35.00 working out for folks? HouseCurve hasn’t detected any real changes, however I’m finding that Atmos tracks maybe sound a hair less muddy/compressed.

Am I going crazy? Or am I going deaf? Over these last few days I find the sound is getting better- maybe the speakers are breaking in. My EQ has also changed a lot.. looks a lot more like this now.

Which is pretty darn close to the Gen 1 EQ posted earlier.

Anyone experiencing something similar? o_O
Someone said speakers take 25 hours of music to fully break in

On my one week old gen2 R1S with premium audio:
I used a pink noise generator on my phone over Bluetooth, then used a frequency analyzer with A-weighting and adjusted until it generally looked flattish. Sorry, I didn't take a screenshot on my phone. But, it definitely sounds better than flat EQ. I'll probably play around with it more after giving the speakers time to break in, but it definitely helped some of the thinness of the sound.

I’ll have to try this when I receive my gen 2 back from service. Thanks for sharing.

I have a gen 1 loaner now and the sound system sounds miles better than what is being produced out of gen 2 at the moment. The variable is that both vehicles are sourcing from Apple Music which also works near perfect in gen 1. I hope that they can get gen 2 to sound like gen 1 soon. This loaner has provided me hope that it can be done. Fingers crossed.
