Hi all. Loooooog time lurker, first time poster. Hats off to all of you who have been contributing and helping us here over the years.
I pre-ordered a R1S back in may 2019, almost 5.5 years ago. I've been a regular (reader) on this forum for years now. Love all the insights shared.
But the short story is that I still haven't been able to buy our R1S. And now it looks like we won't even have been given the opportunity to get one before the pre-order pricing expires in 3 days.
If anyone has any suggestion as to what we can still do to purchase our R1S (with voucher pricing...), I'm really open to ideas!
Being near Montreal, it was only just a few months ago that Rivian started delivering vehicles here. And very very few at that.
We've been trying to get a Dual Max Pack R1S with 20" wheels (ideally with the All-Terrain package), but have never been able to find one in the shop. Trust me, I've refreshed that page more often than I'd like to admit. I also used the amazing tool put together by RivianRoamer, kept up to date on the latest inventory movement news (and rumors) here and elsewhere, and spoke with my (very nice) Rivian guide in Vancouver. But to no avail.
Though I know Rivian did not HAVE to honor pre-order pricing, I found it fair that they did. I was also ok with them changing it to vouchers to make it simpler. But the fact that they limited it to shop purchases only and had so so few vehicles made available in Montreal before September 30th made it virtually impossible to actually buy a vehicle, especially with a Dual Max Pack configuration.
We waited so long, put so much effort and adjusted our plans so many times to get our R1S, it's really hard to believe it's just going to end like this.
For what it's worth, I had also tried writing to Rivian to see if something could be done, an email that my guide was happy to pass along internally two weeks ago, but I never got an answer back.
