Has anyone tried adding a dropper receiver to their rear hitch bike rack to get it out of the way of the rear camera?

I have a 1up hitch bike rack and they sell a 6” dropper extension. It seems like it would lower it the right amount to clear up the view but I’m wondering if anyone else has tried it.

I haven’t. Keep thinking about it every time I put the truck in reverse, though!

I found another thread where the person has, and loves that thing. I ordered a $39 version off Amazon for now, and may order the 1Up one later.

How much does it help with visibility when backing up?

I have a 4" drop receiver that I use with my 1up rack (with two bike racks on it) on my R1T. I did this mostly for tailgate clearance, with the tailgate down it JUST clears the rack. Works great. I wasn't concerned with rear camera visibility, I generally only have the rack on when I'm hauling bikes, and the bikes make the camera mostly useless anyways.

Here is the dropper I use:

Along with this is to secure it:

With this combo, it is rock solid. Zero play in the rack.

Update on how my 1up Super Duty bike rack fits with all this stuff:

MaxxHaul 6" Riser Hitch - $33.20 - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09Y9J5XMZ'
MaxxHaul Hitch Tightener - $19.90 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VWL3R3M
MasterLock Receiver Lock - $29.23 - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AVSIOI

It sits well away from the lowered tailgate; more than necessary.

Ground clearance, in Kneel Mode, is 12". Seems like it would be fine, but I haven't tested it.

The hitch lock and stabilizer work well.( The stabilizer is only hand tight in this picture, for demonstration purposes.)

Overall, this seems like a good system if you need to be able to lower the tailgate with the rack on.
