HI Rivian. New owner, a whopping 17 days. # of times left stranded: 2.

Not sure I'm in with this EV stuff so far.

Left with an un-openable vehicle leaving the Niners game last Sunday the 6th of October. Wouldn't open for 20 minutes, Called service, able to "unbrick it".

today, 10/14/24, leaving a clients house, beeping red light, something about the battery malfunction. Service 800# wouldn't let me reboot, had to tow it to San Jose service center.....leaving me "kinda" stranded.

Lil frustrated with Rivian right now. I want to like it, but it doesn't seem to like me. A relationship is very reciprocal, takes giving and taking from both sides to be successful. I give them money, I get modern horse in return. Cept' this horse doesn't want to acknowledge.

Just a rant. Again, the want is much. The disappointment is becoming.

I'm sorry you've faced this. Rivian will sort it out, but it is absolutely reasonable to be utterly disappointed.....truly.

Probably not a good idea to start your EV journey with a Rivian unfortunately. Still a lot of bugs to work out with this brand. But the start up excuse should be minimal since this company is 10 years old now….._

yes I’m bitter since I get to compare it to a Tesla every day and Tesla knows how to EV.

Is that why the CT has had 5 recalls this year?

To be fair only four were isolated to the Cybertruck, the other affected a lot of Tesla models with a font size that’s too small on the dash display. Rivian also had five recalls in the first year of production as well. If you look through them I’d argue that three of Rivian’s were for actual potentially dangerous conditions (airbag, steering knuckle, seatbelt bolts) opposed to one for the Cybertruck (gas pedal pad).

If Tesla is the standard because they “know how to EV” why are you comparing Rivian’s sales numbers for 2 models to Tesla’s for 5 models? Tesla‘s market share has dropped over 30% in 4 years. Those are code brown type numbers…

Ugh - tough start. I bet both issues are the 12v battery and replacing it will get you back on track for a few years.

To be fair to the OP, how about we keep this post they stated to their problem or solution. I won't ever buy a Tesla, but lets keep this post relevant to the Original Poster.

Again, why are you comparing the two this way? Rivian started production in 2021. What were Teslas numbers in year 3 of production? And which model???‍

And so I've heard. I wish they did a normal truck. Dont want to be seen or drive a triangle.

Gas/Diesel 3/4 ton. and an R2 for daily drive/estimates duty (it is/was a work truck)
