After updating my R1T to the 2024.35.0 version it now blasts heat uncontrollably— climate screen shows blue as if on “cool” but it’s blow dryer hot at all times unless I turn off the air conditioner entirely.

Anybody else have this issue?

I assume it’s to do with the new split climate control for back seat passengers but I would love to revert back to prior version asap. All heat all the time is unbearable… will make me think twice before updating again…

More details:
- temperature setting does not work, even on all the way low it blows hot
- changing to recirculate/not does not help
- setting to fan only does turn off heat
- the front windshield Defogger will blow cold
- resetting software with emergency and left steering wheel does not fix it
Same here...hard reset didn't fix

Maybe the Halloween update (minus the turn signals not working) will fix it

I’m running 2024.35.0 and thought I felt warm air coming from the left front while cold air blowing from the center and right. I will confirm again.
During my drive yesterday I did not experience warm air at all. I’m taking a long drive today so let’s see.

What's the outside temp and what's the temp setting? For example, if it's 66 outside and you have the temp set to 72, even if you're using AC, you won't get cold air. And it doesn't matter if you're not using auto.

Setting should be below the temp if you want AC and vice versa for heat.

I don’t recall the outside temp exactly but this is a great point. I’m usually set between 68-70. Also, the over day when I experienced warm air my daughter was in the second row. She wasn’t in the vehicle yesterday. She’ll be with me today so I’ll report back.

Then the vent colors should stay red, not turn blue.

Also, this doesn't explain my 79°F setting showing red and blowing cold air...

On what planet would such a design make any sense???

- What if I went on a long run/bike ride/whatever but it’s 59 degrees out and I’m sweating and my dogs breath in the back seat stinks from panting and now it’s raining so I can’t open the windows, or there’s wildfire smoke, or I’m driving behind an exhaust spewing diesel truck, or etc…
- what if I’m driving in warm dress clothes to a dinner event in 59 degrees, I’m running late and hot and bothered and my wife doesnt want the window down because it will mess up her hair?
- what if there are a bunch of people in the car who collectively heat the cabin until the windows start to fog while it’s pouring rain outside…

There are literally hundreds of conceivable scenarios where such a design would be laughably stupid.

If Rivian did something like this by design I would rethink all of my high opinions about the company

I do believe there is outside temperature influence, but the weight in their temp formula used to be lower. And (from my experience) only fluctuated the AC/heat switching temp from between 68°-72°.

Yes it's a dumb design, but if you crank all the way to LO or HI it'll shoot out just that air.

Yeah, before this update, I didn’t have any issues with the HVAC. If they used to consider the outside temperature, it was easy to override and adjust the temperature slightly lower or higher than normal.

However, now, in my R1T, it’s completely unmanageable. Even the “Low” setting blows “hot” unless I toggle every button seven times, clap twice, and repeat. At that point, it *might* flip to blow out 33 degrees, which will make you wish you had gloves on. And, like you mentioned, the “red” vs “blue” indicators have no relation to reality — or maybe they’re indicating what it’s like outside, somewhere else, far far away

Also, where can I report bugs like this? It almost seems like they don’t want to be aware of such issues because there’s no convenient way to report them.

For this particular problem, I have a scheduled service appointment in December. ?

That's the only way, I've used the service request feature for previous bugs and they said keep using that way. They assign to software folks who later mark it resolved when they log it.
