Why the heck does my tires look like that?
anyone else has this issue?
All 4 tires look chewed up and really messed up. 15k miles on them…
The tire in the pictures is the rear driver side tire and it’s the worst one. I just noticed that it’s missing huge chunks of the treads, all the way to the wires.
Scary stuff!

I’m not sure why, but I’ve had a similar experience with my R1S at 10,000 miles. If the 20-inch wheels are performing better, I might consider switching to those.

Guess we know why Rivian discontinued the 21” option…

FWIW I have the 21” Michelins and they have been great for the last 1k miles. Cost less as well.

I've got the 21s on my Oct 2022 delivery R1T. 25k miles now. checked my wear just a couple weeks ago, at 7/32 and 8/32. PNW resident. Even mix of highway, city, and very spirited sport driving on back roads...

Must be the heat down there in AZ!

I did a *lot* of launches in my truck and didn't see anything like that before replacing them at 17k miles. I did have 4 separate punctures though.

I am on my second set of 21's and have not seen anything like that. I got 41,000 on my first set of 21's. I have had a couple of punctured tires though.

22s here. Just replaced them at 20k, at about 4/32 so it was time. Never seen that before.

I had a set of goodyears on my Model Y that looked identical to this at 10k miles. My theory was either the heat here in FL, or just the fact that I drove the piss out of that car and the tires couldn't handle the torque. (or both)

I have 31k on mine and they’re going strong. I live in Sacramento with lots of triple digit days and have nothing like that.

I had 34K on my 21s before I replaced them and they had 4/32 - 5/32 left on them. I live in Las Vegas so it's pretty darn hot here.
