Hi all,

I’d love to hear if anyone has any advice on my recent issue. I have no cellular connection in my March 2023 R1T within about 2 miles of my house, but then once I go outside of that radius everything works fine. Once I get back within that radius I lose connection again. This has been going on for 8 days. I have connect plus, have called service and been scheduled for an early December appointment, and have tried multiple hard and soft resets. I haven’t seen anyone post with similar issues before, so curious if anyone has any thoughts. Thanks

Is it possible that what you are experiencing is a lag/delay in shifting from home your Wi-Fi to cell?

Easy way to test: turn off the truck's Wi-Fi.

I think that happens to me every day as well. As soon as I leave my neighborhood, I experience a delay. Then, it transfers to the tuck Wi-Fi. I verified this by turning off my Wi-Fi on my phone. I didn't experience the same delay.

After rereading, it doesn't sound like the same issue.

Thanks, I was wondering if it could have something to do with a location based setting too. I don’t thin the wifi is the issue. I just turned off the wifi while parked in my garage and still have no cellular service. Also since I lose cellular connection on my way back home but still a mile or two away from the house, I think it is unrelated. I’ll try keeping the WiFi off and see if it makes a difference. Appreciate the suggestion.

The only thing else I can think is that you just don't have cellular coverage at your house.

There are no location-based settings for cell/LTE/Wi-Fi.

Yeah, I live near a dead area for AT&T also, this is normal for me. You know cellular dead spots exist right? And change over time. I happen to have a direct line to the head of network performance probes for AT&T, if you want to PM a coordinate or address I'll send it over for a look.

Thanks really appreciate it, I just sent you a PM. I’d be surprised if it was a dead spot. My cell is AT&T and fine. I live in a pretty populated suburb of NYC. We have a ton of Rivians in our town and driving through so I think if everyone was dealing with it the issue would have been flagged. It feels like a unique issue, that I’m hoping gets fixed with the next update. But I want to do everything I can to try to figure it out and not have a couple of unsuccessful service visits. Appreciate all thoughts and ideas!

Your cell is probably 5G and the car is LTE. This is important in some places. My area has been losing some 4G services just outside the most populated areas. We were also the first to lose 3G.

Keep in mind that your cell phone might be using a different band/frequency.

i.e.: Your cell phone might be using 5G band while the Rivian uses LTE. Or even your cell might have LTE+. Those things can cause a disparity between the reception of the truck and yours.

In my neighborhood, the Rivian has better service than my cell phone, weirdly enough :) I live in a dead-spot area where cell coverage sucks, but AT&T LTE is decent here.

Are you on the east side of Westchester between Pelham and Port Chester? Because it sounds like its affecting everyone in the area. I also have a service appointment for early December, as does a friend of mine down the street. Trying to convince Rivian that its a problem on their or AT&T's end so they actually fix it rather than having someone come out in December for no reason. Feel free to update your service ticket accordingly!

Yup, I live in Rye so looks like I’m right in the center of it. I’ll update my ticket. Thanks so much, good to know it’s not just my truck.
