How to turn off auto height?

They already do this for the quad and tri trucks. They have their lower "sport" numbers published prominently and the higher conserve numbers are listed below. This is what they should have done for the PDM trim as well.

What they didn't do is account for the auto suspension in the base truck. That's where having a hot button to quickly turn this off would be helpful.

My Kia Sportage Hybrid does the same thing. Resets to Economy Mode each time you turn it off. Very annoying especially during the winter when you want to leave it in Snow Mode.

My Kia Sportage Hybrid does the same thing. Resets to Economy Mode each time you turn it off.
A lot of newer Chevy trucks (with V8-6-4 cylinder deactivation) do this, as well. They have a switch to turn the "feature" off, but it resets at next startup (unless you hack in an aftermarket wiring adapter or module to disable).

Yeah, this sucks and super annoying. I always drive my truck in low. Up until a couple months ago, it never used to do this.

Every morning when I get in it, I have to manually set it to low, and I guarantee you that all the up-and-down screws up the alignment.

Rivian! Just let me leave the damn truck in and leave me alone. It’s better for gas mileage anyway! EPA guidelines whatever.

Write Rivian customer service and ask them for a better way to allow you to keep your last used drive mode settings, such as a prompt you can easily respond to via the steering wheel when you put the vehicle in drive. "Keep previously selected drive mode / suspension settings?" If you tap a button indicating "yes" within 5 seconds then it will leave you alone and not reset. I think this would technically comply with the ridiculous EPA requirement and allow you to more easily keep your preferred settings more accessible. The Lightning had this prompt to stay in sport mode at every drive. It was annoying, but the Rivian's current behavior is much worse. I have to go through the suspension settings at work to quickly put my settings back to sport mode since my parking garage has such a low ceiling.
Where is this EPA requirement? I keep seeing this but EPA does not govern car driving only estimated mileage and they don’t track or care after the vehicle is sold. As with several Tesla vehicles I’ve owned, you can put the car in any drive mode at any time whether it’s ride height, sport or off road, or regen braking changes and it keeps it…forever until the user changes it again. If this EPA oversight rule is true then how come it doesn’t apply to Tesla or regular gas vehicles?

It likely does... but Tesla just doesn't care and they don't have air suspension. And several other ICE cars do the same thing.

If those other manufacturers are choosing to run the EPA test in the least efficient setting, they won't have the same problem. The EPA isn't going to object to sticky settings that improve efficiency compared to the settings used during the test.

But having one super efficient setting that you use for the test, and another one that is much less efficient that you expect 99% of the drivers to use 99% of the time is obviously cheating the test. Actually that is pretty much exactly what diesel gate was all about.

So no, it is probably not the EPA flat out saying that settings can't be sticky. But because Rivian chooses to use the more efficient mode during the test, the EPA is not going to let them make it too easy to turn that efficient mode off.

Except that this is an EV. Just how difficult does it have to be to so that it's not "too easy" to turn it off?

Continues to be my major complaint at the current time. Truck drives like hot garbage in auto mode.

I would be here for whatever class action suit gets filed on this, but I'm guessing there was an arbitration clause buried in the paperwork and setup screens I didn't bother to read.

I wish the positives about this truck weren't equal to the negatives.

What? I thought diesel-gate was that the vehicle software detected that it was being tested and secretly put itself into a low emission mode that was otherwise not available to the driver.

All Rivian drive modes seem to be selectable by the driver, whether an epa driver or a normal driver. Normal drivers can choose the efficient mode or the inefficient modes. VW drivers could never drive in the claimed low emission mode.

I just want it to stay in my last setup, whether that's mist or least efficient. A warning message would be better than just starting up in the least useful mode for pulling out of an off-road campsite or negotiating snowy conditions.
