Is it just me or is anyone else noticing better sound quality after the update?
3D Surround and Dynamic still don’t do very much, but I think I’m getting better sound quality now. Maybe…

Which sound system do you have? There are now so many and they all sound different.

I have a Gen 1 R1T with the Meridian system and I can confirm it’s been affected more than once by software updates, for better or worse. It’s impressive how much they can adjust it that way… Haven’t received the latest update yet.

R1S Gen 2 with standard audio. When purchased in August, the audio was muddy, flat and as disappointing as everyone said it was. With the October update, and now with yesterday’s update, it is now light years better. I enjoy sitting in the car and listening to music, instruments are separated and clear, sound stage is now present, and no more mud, bass is as strong as I want (even with no subwoofer) even on flat eq settings. I am not an audio geek, but I am a very picky engineer, and I declare this issue solved (at least on gen 2 base audio). Good job Rivian!

To all the whiners… have some faith in the software development team. Tarring and feathering is not an effective motivator.

Gen 2 R1S with Premium Audio. Update .43 definitely brought sensible improvement to sound quality!!! So far only tested with Apple Music, Dolby tracks. Will try Spotify these days too.

Gen 2 premium audio should have great potential! That system has nearly 1000w of power and a ton of speakers. I will say that on Gen 1 sometimes the audio would sound horrible/flat after a software update. Each time this happened an infotainment reboot fixed it.

I am confident through software updates Rivian will improve Gen 2 audio experience both with standard and premium audio setups. Audio is really important to me and I am pretty pleased with my Rivian elevation here in Gen 1.

The .43 update is a significant improvement in the sound quality as well as the overall balance within the cabin. Night and day difference.

IMHO, the Dolby Atmos needs additional refinement in terms of recentering like they did for the stereo signal. Still a very forward centric soundstage. But this last update shows there is plenty of room for software improvements with the system.

Very glad to hear this, don’t have the latest update yet, was hoping this would improve the standard audio on my Gen2 !
