One annoying thing I've found about my new tri-motor is that after sleeping for the night, it will switch to all-terrain mode when I drive it again. Just stay in sport like my old quad did.

I meant all purpose mode! Sorry for the incorrect title.

It’s trying to get you to go off-roading. Take the hint?

Between the street tires and the glossy black rims, my new S isn't really set up for off-roading.

Does is also raise up to the highest level when you get in? I'm just thinking of all the scuff marks in door sills from my wife's heeled shoes from pulling herself up into the seat, even in All Purpose Standard Height mode. She complains that I don't program kneel mode in my settings, but I'm not as short as her and also think getting in is part of the "adventure".

I heard somewhere that this has something to do with EPA requirements - in order to maintain the mileage rating, it has to revert to a default setting so that users get the mileage that the vehicle claims to achieve?

No, it doesn't start raising until you put it in drive. It will stay in whatever mode you left it in until then. There is a delay, too, I can click it to sport before the suspension starts rising. There is a warning saying it's going to do it, and that warning time is generous enough to switch it back without the truck moving.

I was under the impression that the lower EPA mileage on the tri motors allowed them to maintain modes similar to the first-generation quad I had previously. I guess not; I'm unsure if the EPA thing is even a rule or just a forum rumor.

i assume you meant all purpose. This is intended behavior according to the owners manual. 4 hours since your last drive it reverts to all purpose and auto ride height. I too wish it would stay where I set it.

Wow, this is really disappointing to see that they've implemented this on the Tri. This is one of the worst things about the performance dual motor that I hoped they'd learned their lesson on. I thought since the "ringer" EPA rating was in conserve mode that they wouldn't screw with your settings after a sleep. I guess not.

Yes I did mean all purpose sorry. I know it’s intended, at least on the duals it was. I just don’t want them to do it on the performance models.

I noticed they added the tri-motor to the notes on that in the manual. Won't be surprised if the new quads are the same way as so far all the gen 2s are.

I'd actually be surprised if they are this way. Especially when it seems like the quad is "performance over all else". But I guess if it is, we can blame some beancounter somewhere that has a hardon for range numbers.

They could program a toggle in the settings to allow you to override it. Even if it said, "By clicking this, your new EPA range is X." I don't care what the range is; it's better than my old quad, and that was enough. Plus, when I need range, I use conserve mode anyway.

+1. Ship it from the factory the way it was tested by the EPA. And let the consumer know if a setting changes things. But it feels anti-user to just reset things the user has explicitly selected.

Exactly. There shouldn't be any mandate to move the settings back to how it was tested, but here we are. This is an EV, not a TDI.

Or they could use the right scroll wheel button for something useful like toggling between drive modes. Right now that button does nothing.
