Damn!!! You'd have to push a shopping cart pretty F'ing hard to do that kind of damage!

Probably better off you didn't catch the AH in the act... Christmas in jail on assault charges isn't all it's cracked up to be.

Oh, just noticed "came out from work this morning and noticed two small dents in the rear door on driver's side"... so you think this happened at work?
Certainly looks like it. I didn’t notice it early this morning when I got in or out and I opened the now damaged door to get my bag. Same sequence last night when I got home.

I give the the truck a good look every time I get in, so think I would have noticed if it happened earlier. Sad thing is that my work location is on a Navy Base.

1st PDR guy to get back to me said the dents are too sharp. Not the answer I was hoping for.

I won’t be buying a Gary Plushy.
I would check a couple more. I had a guy out her in SoCal that got similar ones out of my Jeep GC, and one maybe a little worse from the tank of an HD Fatboy.

I would be surprised if they can’t do those.

Mine is even better. I had m
I've only ever had motion detections, but after one of the summer software updates it seems like the recordings don't start until halfway through an event. For example, if the truck is in a parking lot and someone walks by then the recording starts when the person is already halfway past the truck. If they decided to briefly key it (or something that isn't enough to trigger an alarm event), you might not catch the actual act on camera.
I am having same issue. My recordings seem to start several seconds after the action or not at all. Is there a calibration issue that we can get checked at the service center? I also noticed a guy walk up to it and look in the window and when I got to my car about a minute or two later, no video? Gear Guard was on and Nada!!! Would also like App Notification when the Gear Guard records with a clip or image.

I feel for you. Door dings are a huge pet peeve of mine. The only good news is that I don't see any scratched paint. My amazing PDR guy can make those dings disappear.

That's one big plus for the 2023 Cybertruck design. With 3mm thick stainless steel sides future owners have virtually no worries about door dings from careless motorists.

Sorry to see that. Those are pretty big. Gary definitely should have caught them on camera.
F'ing Gary sleeping on the job, again! What did you expect from a SASQUATCH?

Not exactly the forest creature I associate with vigilance and quick reaction time to capture an event in motion.

I am thinking the mascot for gear guard should have been an Owl. More specifically, the great horned owl. Looks mean, is nearly silent in flight, can see in total darkness, and nobody gets passed him!

OK - so, this wiki description makes my case for me!

Owls are not instinctively friendly to humans and are generally intolerant of human company, especially any attempts at being touched, petted and handled in any way.

Leggo my Rivian!

Gary missed mine too. And it actually set the alarm off. I was thinking somebody threw something at it and it was too quick for the camera to catch it. But maybe it was just lazy Gary. I noticed I can have a car park or leave next to me without Gary catching it sometimes. Frustrating!

Well, it happened to me while I was parked in a shopping center. Cameras were on and recording but did NOT capture the event. Hard enough hit to put a basketball-size dent in the side, but I never got a "security" alarm on my phone either. Would love to have caught the person, but nothing worked as it should. Anyone with experienced advice on who does Rivian body repair?

I made a separate post about this a few days ago. I'm pretty sure gear guard motion software excludes recording vehicle motion events by design. It uses the same AI that differentiates between cars, big rigs and people in crosswalks to exclude recording videos if only a vehicle is present or moving toward your R1.

Example... I had someone back into our R1 a few weeks ago damaging the front center light bar. It didn't start recording until the presumed 18-22 year old stepped out of their Jeep 4xe with all her overlanding crap hanging off the back of it. It didn't record the actual impact, but the jack mount attached to the spare tire are at the perfect shape and height to cause the damage. She looks over at my front light bar as she walks by.

After that, all the recordings are just of people walking by the R1, but no records of cars driving by.

That's probably why I have no evidence. Whoever did this did not stick around. Thus, no recording. NOT GOOD!

Gear guard failed me too. Noticed a modest horizontal dent in the rear end of the rear drivers quarter panel. Happened in the last few days cause I had a photo showing the un dented rear a few days back. Checked footage and didn’t find anything and in doing realized like others that it never records cars moving around the truck. Only people.

Someone got our model 3 with there door quite good and it was all on camera with their plates. Policy here wouldn’t help anyway though cause it wasn’t a rolling accident and they wouldn’t even share the car owners contact.

The rolling cars are the things it should really be recording as then the cops would actually help me out.

LISTEN UP, RIVIAN! THIS NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED ASAP! The Cameras and Security Alarms are supposed to help protect our vehicles.
Supposed to help protect your gear, not including your body panels.
