I have the Michelin Defender XLT's now for over 8000 miles. Best decision I've ever made. They are super quiet! Bet your Goodyears hum nicely. My size is 285/60/20's and I only drive in Sport Mode at low suspension setting. My ride is great and I don't anticipate ever changing tires before 50,000 miles. Warranty says 70,000 miles.
I do admit, they're not the best looking tire, but they are the quietest and most efficient tire available for Rivian I think. I drive mostly with the radio off, and it's crazy quiet, especially when you have passengers that you're conversing with.
Sure, they're expensive, but so is my Rivian and my Rolex, you get what you pay for. Got mine at Costco, best place for tires. They have the least issues with claims or problems and are nationwide. Free rotation while you're shopping!
Glad you like your Michelins. They were the one I was leaning toward and everyone talks about how they are efficient and quiet. Those aren't my top 2 priorities. Cost isn't a driver, but if I can save money I will.

Tires that last a long time invariably give up grip/traction to do that, hence the reason they are rated lower on the UTOQ ratings. Bringing up Costco, I couldn't find a Costco in my area that would mount the Michelin on the truck. They would do the tires and leave it up to me to actually put them on the truck. The extra inch of tire width can definitely provide more grip, all things being equal, than a narrower tire.

Discount tire has treated me well over the years and I've gotten a lot of value out of their tire certificates which Costco doesn't offer.

If I was spending all my time on the highway, I might have gone with the Michelins. While tire noise may be an issue, I doubt it will be a major one. Until I get the rest of the wind noise knocked down, tire noise is the least of my worries for what is basically an all-season tire.

While people are happy with the Michelin, and I've been a long time Michelin buyer, I think the Goodyears being designed specifically for the truck could offer a lot of advantages. It was hard to get out of the Michelin eco system and buy something else. I have them on my Plaid, have them on my Highlan model 3 performance, on 7 of my motorcycles and had them on Model 3 until I put Hankook iON Evos on it (which have been awesome).

If I hate the Goodyears, I'll just buy something else and move on. I just spent almost as much on 2 Michelin motorcycle tires as I did for the 4 Goodyears. Not a big deal. Enjoy your Michelins. I am glad we have other options.

Drove on ice/sleet/snow mix in 19 degree weather and definitely grip much better than 21 inch Pirelli All Seasons. Not much slide with turns and good throttle grip.
Ever try the stock Pirelli AT 275/65R20s? Those scared me away from the EV blended tires, I almost slid into a barrier going under 15, would not grip on slick stuff.

You got 2.37 with original 34" OEM 20? That is awesome efficiency. I barely get 2.32 with my 21".
Yeah 21k miles and mostly highway driving in All Purpose standard height mode. My truck is also a Dual motor.

They do in aw09. I got that in my r1s
I bet those look great on it. Most their other rims are available in 8.5". I really liked the AW10's and had bought a set but exchanged them for the AW01s. All of the Atomic Wheels are great bang for the buck.

They are in Dallas and saved the shipping fee.

No I have not. This is my 1st time on 20s for the R1S.

Efficiency is trending higher than the Pirelli 20’s which were 2.37. I’m waiting till I get over 1,000 miles before I report. They are very quiet compared to the OEM and I always drive in standard height. After seeing a picture of the MS2’s in 275/65/20 they still look like poop, so I’m good with the Goodyears ?
Did you have to get Rivian to update your wheel/tire size for this change?

I believed they said you will be able to do this on your own with the next few updates in 2025
