I saw the link on the website. I have a few questions to clarify.I have created a website for the truck cap.

We will need to have a minimum of 5 orders before the order can be placed
We are looking at end of January if we put the order in about 1 week or so.
I have recently got a hard topper custom made for the R1T and wanted to know if anyone would be interested in group buying. Currently there is only one available here and it costs over $5k and 4 months of lead time.
The topper is made of black anodized aluminum alloy with several options available. The weight is roughly 85kg or 187lbs. The roof top static/dynamic load is 450lbs/720lbs. There are cutouts for the gear tunnel, cargo bar mount, and the trunk release. The tonneau cover will no longer work because of the mounting point.
It comes in 5 main pieces and the assembly took about 4 hours by myself, it's mostly bolting them together, putting it on the truck took another hour and half with 2 people. All the hardware/weatherstrip/sealants are included.
The first one that I have is a prototype and there will be a few changes for future orders.
1) the mounting point, currently it uses all 4 tie down points and the middle rail is misaligned, that will be fixed and align with the existing truck bed.
2) The optional side window storage box will have a 2" cutout for gear tunnel access.
We will need a minimum of 5 orders for this to be possible. Once I have gathered enough interest, I can create a website for the credit card payment and details.
A $600 + Upgrades deposit will be needed for the ordering, and the remaining balance will be due once it is ready to be shipped. A proof of image will be provided.
The price will be $2100, which includes the hard topper and all hardware. The shipping fee and custom clearance is included and it will ship direct to door.
The standard topper has three side opening options as shown below. It can be with mounting panel or fully enclosed. The sliding glass window will be a $130 upgrade.
The front and back can be either enclosed or with windows, I prefer the window version because you can still see the rear from the mirror.
The side storage is $220.
The lead time will be about 3 months. It take about 1 month to manufacture and 2 months to get here.![]()

I saw the link on the website. I have a few questions to clarify.
So by Default, you can choose the three types of side doors. (1) and (2) have slots that allows you to mount/strap things on it. The 3rd option is fully enclosed door. These are free of charge.
- Do the side doors that open have windows by default or not?
What I have is the optional windows which is a $130 option
Thank you for pointing that out, I have added the left and right. They are not universal fit
- When it references mounting panel type 1 & 2, what are they and where do they go?
- Do you need to specify right or left for the storage box or they a universal fit?
The sliding glass window is what I have currently on my truck. There is no lock on the sliding window, but you can only it from the inside of the truck.
- Where does the sliding glass go? On the side storage or front window? How does it lock?
The storage boxes is a separate piece that you can install later like the picture that is attached, so once that storage box is installed, you won't be able to access the bed from that side because of the storage box. I think it is best to just get one storage box so that you still have access to the truck bed from the other side.
- Do the storage boxes come with the window to open or how does they work?
Do you use with same door/window with the storage box inside? Or does it go together differently? For example I was thinking about using the truck without the storage boxes and just side windows at first and maybe add the storage box(es) later if need them and could do that. I'd order the boxes at the same time.
- Any chance to add options later to change our config? See my example below.
I am pretty sure I am in for one, just need to understand the configuration better.
The aero changes dramatically even if the cap is just raised by an inch or two which affects the efficiency by quite a bit. I recall install the crossbar on the roof and my consumption went from 2.3mile/kwh down to ~ 2.1mile/kwh. It may not seem significant but every so often you needed that last mile to get home. Thanks for all the info. It has definitely moved the needle in a positive direction.
I would make an additional suggestion. If you can raise the rear 1/2"-1" for the rear door opening, it will be easier to put in 275/65/20 tires in the back. Most of them are about 34" tall. I have a bed mat which costs me a 1/4 of an inch. Not sure how easy it would be to change that aspect of the design. Maybe raise the entire height a 1/2" as it appears it is already a touch above the cab height.
There are cutouts for the buttons, but you will need to open the door first. How can I open the gear tunnel and tailgate with the canopy in place?
The box is only accessible from the outside of the side windows. How do you access the optional box? Do you open the entire side door? I assume you can also access through the optional siding windows.

Or activate the release from the driver's dashboard! I think I would do that. There are cutouts for the buttons, but you will need to open the door first.

From the app as well.Or activate the release from the driver's dashboard! I think I would do that.
Hey. Right! I forgot. From the app as well.
The storage box will be accessible once you open the side door.Thanks. Can you show how the door opens on the storage box? Basically showing how you access the storage box.
If order one of these, I likely will try and figure out a way to make a little camera port so I can still use the bed cam to look into the topper.![]()
