I run ONLY 5Ghz networks at home. R1T updates just ok...
I tried, too many random things that don't support it. I have two networks, I force everything to 5GHz that supports it, and then have a separate 2.4GHz network for the things that don't. I think the exception is my Rivian because the 2.4GHz reaches further into the driveway.

But yea, as the update says, wifi frequency does NOT matter. Probably has more to do with not having Connect+

Interesting. I have 5Ghz that reaches all the way out to the end of my driveway. Again this is dependent on where your source is. But, it’s at least 50’ away from the source for me. I don’t have Connect+, and I’m still able to use 5Ghz for connectivity. It’s been that way since day one of ownership and even before Connect+ was even a thing

I have mine connected to 5Ghz WiFi at home since day one of ownership, and I’ve been able to get all of my updates.
Same.

Imo it's just asking for trouble to leave both networks with the same name. Name one "My_network2.4" and the other "My_network5" or do something to differentiate them.

2.4Ghz goes through walls better than 5Ghz, so it tends to reach a little further if you have lots of stuff in the way.

As for Connect+, I say that because Rivian said if you don't pay for Connect+ they intentionally delay the update by a week

Um, I’m aware of the fact that 2.4 GHz reaches further. Point is, the subject header is talking about update not being supported by 5Ghz WiFi which isn’t true and not about having Connect+ or not and the delay of the update. Regardless, update works with 5Ghz WiFi, whether it’s delayed or not.

Router with same SSID for both Wi-Fi bands. Have never had any issues with updates not getting installed.
I've had no issues with the R1T connecting to an SSID with both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. I do have a 2.4 GHz-only SSID for IoT devices that don't support 5 GHz. I generally only need to use that for LEDs and Chinese-designed junk.

Although, I keep Wi-Fi in the R1T disabled because I park too far from my APs to have a usable connection. The last update installed over LTE. Is that not expected behavior?

It is, and it will, but at a lower priority release ring than vehicles connected via Wi-Fi.
