Hi there. I went to Vancouver, BC over the weekend to test drive an R1T (sadly, it's illegal to test drive a Rivian in WA state). I immediately bought one (El Cap Granite Tri-Max w/ adventure package). Delivery on Feb. 1. Can not wait!

A) welcome to the community!
B) illegal? Weird! Did anyone give you any explanation for this?
Glad you came up with a workaround!
Washington has a law that prohibits test drives and price discussions unless you have a dealership. Since the purchasing process for companies like Rivian and Tesla is online, they are not allowed to offer test drives. It is a law that was essentially paid for by the traditional auto dealerships to keep out new competition.

Howdy folks, Jason here from the Boston area. Long time EV fan, current Miata driver.
I'm looking to maybe buy an R1T soon.
I bought a 24 foot center console boat a few years ago and I could use a truck to tow it. I also love being outdoors and camping, thinking the Rivian checks a lot of boxes.

Test drove a TriMax a couple months ago and was blown away with how great it handled and the extensive array of features.

Just still in my "research" phase but I'm pretty likely buying one in the Spring.

Greetings! Proud owner of a new to me '22 R1T quad that I picked up on new year's eve with about 2500 miles. I've owned two Tesla's over the last 5 years and traded my '21 M3p. I find the Rivian far superior in just about every way!

Welcome to the forum. I'd also encourage to look at used Gen1's (2022-2024). You can pick up a used, low miles one, for about half the price of a new Tri. Just something to consider. The Gen1 quad motor is slightly slower to 60 at 3.0 vs 2.8 but it may not matter to you. For me it wasn't worth dropping another 50k for it. I already did that with my Plaid.

I bought my 2023 R1T about 4 months ago and put 4k miles on it. I absolutely love the truck. I gave up my CyberTruck reservation and bought the Rivian instead. It is such a great all around vehicle, most just a great truck. One thing to keep in mind about any Rivians are the service center wait times to get in can be pretty severe depending on where you live. On the plus side, they will give you a loaner or a rental most of the time.

A great feature of the R1T is that your Miata will fit in the gear tunnel. ?

2025 Rivian R1T TriMax
Purchased my first Rivian on 12/27/24, first got into the fun of driving EVs when I purchased a 2014 BMW i3, loved that little car and had a blast driving it but after several years of needing a truck I sadly got rid of it for a Honda Ridgeline pickup truck. Two Ridgelines later I traded in my Ridgeline and got the RqT Tri motor Max and I am once again totally loving being back in an EV. My wife has a 22' Tesla Model Y and we now share the Tesla charger at home. I am not an off roader or speed guy but I do like to be able to haul stuff, one of my serious passions is woodworking. Had XPEL put on full front, hood and mirrors with entire vehicle ceramic coated including those beautiful 22" sport bright wheels. My brother told me that the R1T isn't a work truck, I told him it definitely was, it hauls me to my office everyday :)

Gorgeous truck and I agree the 22's look very nice. I am curious why you went with the Tri if you aren't a speed guy? Not judging, just curious. Even the dual motor is reasonably quick.

I went with Tri Motor because I wanted the Ascend interior and by the time I fully optioned out a dual motor it was close to the Tri motor, plus they gave me additional money on my traded in because I went with Tri motor.

Hey everyone. I'm Jeff from the Chattanooga Area. Thanks for adding me to the group. I became an official member of #TeamRivian on December 14, 2024 when I traded my Launch Edition Chevrolet Bolt EUV for a Gen 2 R1T. I have always been a truck guy until I moved into the Bolt. I have a 110 mile daily commute for work so moving to an EV was a no-brainer back in 2022. My desire to get back into a truck led me to Rivian. Admittedly, I was holding off for the Silverado EV, but was very disappointed in the final product GM has to offer.

In my first month of ownership, I have fallen in love with the R1T. It is a Dual Large set up on '22s. I am an avid hiker with long distance section hikes along the Appalachian Trail and a full thru-hike of the Pinhoti Trail under my belt. I'm looking forward to returning to the Talladega National Forest for some backcountry camping in the truck. I have already picked up the camp kitchen and spare tire kit, so I believe I'm ready for ADVENTURE!
