Exactly. They have relationships everywhere. I did this for years.

January Goodyear availability update…

Discount Tire needed a week to get it from Goodyear, which is too long for me. I’ve got a nail in mine and am road tripping next week. Discount’s price was also high ($297?), plus install.

The local Goodyear company owned store ordered one for me. Will arrive in 2 business days. They’re charging me $275 for the tire, plus shipping, plus install… more than the price on the Goodyear Website. The local store refused to price match the Goodyear website, and refused the 10% discount code the Goodyear website offered me. “When people buy on the website, our store doesn’t get credit for the sale”. Goodyear’s website shows out of stock for Houston. Won’t even let you order. Yes, Goodyear has an omnichannel pricing problem.

Out of curiosity, I checked Tire Rack. Lowest price ($261). Would arrive in 3 business days. No shipping charge. Faster and cheaper than what Discount Tire offered, despite common ownership.

Lesson learned. Check Tire Rack.

Brian-Japan has true customer service. We are terrible at it. All anyone needs to do is sell the same widget but with better service to take market share. I'm not being critical of one particular company but unfortunately most.

Did you try doing what I mentioned in my opening post? Discount Tire will price match. You may have to be persistent, but they will do it. I just printed out my cart, with the Goodyear Tire Discount showing in it, and they matched it. Easy peasy. I am in Dallas.

There were no shipping charges and they actually did it cheaper than what my Goodyear store would have done by discounting installation more. As I mentioned upstream, I just used the Goodyear15 discount code. There should have been Goodyear stores in Houston as well.

Good chance of snow next week for us (about 50%) so may get a chance to try them out in it.

I didn’t even ask Discount Tire about price. When they said it would be a week to get the tire from Goodyear, I started shopping. I need the tire sooner for a trip. When the Goodyear store said they could get the tire in two business days, I took it at any price. Only later, when curious, did I check Tire Rack and find they had better pricing and availability.

PS. I ordered another tire off Tire Rack to keep in my garage for the next time I’m in a hurry for a tire. Until this tire becomes commonly available, seems necessary to have my own inventory.

Well, I know where to get one if I need it in a hurry. ;)

DT told me 2 days when I originally ordered.

Yeah, said possibly 50% chance last night for Thu and Fri. Today they revised it to 35% on Friday. I got the tires just before leaving for a week, so there's no chance for any impressions yet. Discount Tire is less than 2 miles from my house. :(

Just mounted and replaced my 21" OEM set with 20" R1000 and the Goodyears. Love the look and had a great experience at the Normal Discount Tire although it cost $50 more than was advertised on the Tire Rack site for installation at the location. Also got to check out the new (to me) RAN site which was 10 yards away from the Discount Tire. I am probably late to party, but the RAN looks to be open to non-Rivians.

Noticeably better than the 21" OEMs were, but not sure how much is due to it being 20" tires. They were quiet and I perceived better handling and felt less bumps. Definitely an upgrade from 21" set.

Less bumpy has a lot to do with thicker sidewall more than anything. I'm glad to hear that it is quite since technically, it is more of an AT than AS
