Just got home from inspecting our R1S Tri scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Both front doors have obvious alignment problems at the top. I noticed this immediately when they pulled the car up. The demo Tri sitting right next to ours does not have these alignment problems.

Anyone know how easy this is to fix? I'm no expert on G2 door adjustments but it seems to me the doors would need to be bent to fix this. A tech was not available to come out and look at it. Otherwise the car looked good except for a small hood adjustment and a piece of roof trim needs some 3m adhesive tape replaced.

Assuming they can't fix these doors by tomorrow shall I refuse delivery? There was some talk of finalizing the deal tomorrow and putting me in a loaner if they don't have time to fix it but I'm not really comfortable with that option. We have already signed the lease and paid down payment.

I'm floored problems like this make it out of the factory.

Hard to tell as you only show the top of the door, do you have a picture of the entire door?

I don't but the doors align fine in the center and lower part. It's almost as if the doors aren't fully shut but I can attest they are as I opened and closed them hard many times. Crazy that both driver and passenger front doors have the same problem. Rear doors are fine.

Passenger side is probably normal enough, driver looks like a roadside service person used a bag inflator on it.

I should have taken better photos but the passenger side is just as bad as the drivers side. What is a bag inflator? This car just came out of Normal factory and has 16 miles on it. I doubt roadside service has touched it.

They wedge it between the frame of the door and the car, inflate the bag to get room to open the vehicle from inside or retrieve keys, etc. Seems unlikely to me as well.

It does look to have quite a misalignment, that's as bad as our Tesla MX doors :p

What did the service center say? Normally they should be able to schedule a post-delivery fix (keep in mind if you are like the rest of us, it could be several weeks of wait for an appointment and several more weeks of having the truck sit in service waiting for them to get to it).

Your other option is to decline delivery and see if they have another one with the same/similar specs.

My gen2 R1T had zero door alignment issues. Not even that dreaded rubbing-against-the-front-quarter-panel issue.

When I picked up my 23S rear passenger door was misaligned. I made an appointment to have it fixed at their next availability. Was no issue. I didn’t want to wait to pick up the car.

Thanks for all the replies. The service advisor who was handling my inspection today just called and said the doors have been adjusted, he's put his eyes on the car and they are now flush. He seems pretty knowledgeable so hopefully it's fixed. Loose roof trim has fresh adhesive and the front hood is in spec so they won't align it. He said it was fairly involved and could cause additional alignment problems. I may have been nit picking the hood alignment but this is the most expensive car we've ever bought.

It's not an order. The 6k incentive on the Tri only works for inventory vehicles.
Ah yes crap. Well, can you ask for another comparable vehicle? I dunno - you will probably be fine. But anecdotally, when folks pick up an R1 with issues, they are spending the next year or so getting them fixed.

Getting #3 delivered tomorrow - first one we made an appt to fix 3-4 things. Second one they fixed a few thing on the spot. I think they’ve been pretty responsive

I had the same issue on my first R1S. Honestly, the service center by me was never able to fix it. They would try... I would come to pick it up... they would present the car to me... and the door was just as bad or worse each of two times they tried. Ultimately it was really just a cosmetic issue, but it was always in the back of my mind. They definitely tried each time but it seems like it was just not something they could fix there. I considered taking it to a body shop to see whether they could possibly fix it, but I ended up swapping it out after a year for a new one (not because of that issue). Maybe you will be lucky and they will be able to align the door properly.

It would be great to see after photos.

it depends on your particular service center and the people working there when it comes to timeliness and responsiveness. Some are a nightmare, others seem reasonable. Unfortunately my service center was the former and was what ultimately broke the back of my Rivian ownership experience
