I still intend to use my R2 reservation. The timing will probably work out nicely. An R1T is in my future, but it would be a silly waste of money right now because it would need to replace a perfectly fine and (and payment-free) truck.

I can't remember the source, but I heard there were over 100,000 reservations for the R2.

My best estimate is eleventy million, just need RJ to confirm. RJ???
So, here’s a question: I have an Equinox EV on lease, 24 months, which is up at Thanksgiving 2026. I have a deposit on an R2. Odds of getting the R2 by then? I prepaid the lease on the Equinox.

I'd say you have a decent shot. When did you reserve the R2?

I probably won’t be using mine. It was intended to replace my R1T until I saw it in person and realized it’s too small. So I traded the T in for an S.

Most def I wasn’t in the first week. Maybe a month or 2 after.
Well, considering they announced 68k in less than 24 hours...

You should be in pretty good shape to get one by then...I'm actually looking for a "bridge EV" to get me by until the R2 is available. My twins are high school seniors and are going to take my two ICE vehicles (a Highlander and an Outback) to school with them in the fall, leaving me without wheels (the R1S is clearly my wife's). I reached out to our local VW dealer about the $149/month 2-year lease on the ID.4 Standard but there's no inventory available. She did tell me that she could put me in an ID.4 Pro S for about $400/month with a 3-year lease, but I'm an optimistic guy and hope that the R2 is available in 2026. I may just buy a used EV to get me by.
