Warning for anyone who bought the @EV Sportline Rivian specific 6-ton bottle jack...go check on it.

I bought the EV Sportline jack March of 2023. Rivian wasn't selling spare kits at the time so I built my own. Never used the jack once, but put it in my R1T spare compartment in case I needed it. Well, I needed it. Went to change a flat tire and instead of finding my nice unused kit waiting for me I found a mess of hydraulic fluid everywhere. I needed to call AAA to come change the tire for me. Store it and forget it emergency gear can't fail like this.

Also, it might be a bit nitpicky but the rubber gasket on the jack puck had broken apart. The spare gasket was still good.

Needless to say, I won't be using EV Sportline products for anything critical.

Sorry about your luck here! - not a problem we’ve seen but just give us a call and we’re happy to get you a replacement at no charge.

I suspect it wasn’t stored properly (standing up), which is noted in the instructions. Every bottle jack on the planet is subject to seeping when laid on the side.

Instructions:

Since you are interested feel free to RTFM. Might be a bit hard to read as it's covered in it's own oil!

Rivian R1T R1S WARNING! EV Sportline Jack Fail! [PSA: Store a Bottle Jack in Proper Position] 1738440582330-ki

@EV Sportline even if you wanted people to store it laying down (even though you didnt print that in the manual it came with), we don't keep this stored on a shelf in our garage, we keep it stored in our spare tire compartment on a vehicle that moves. 1) even if I "stored" it up right it would fall over the second I drive. 2) Even if I glued the thing in an upright position, it doesn't fit if stored upright in the spare tire compartment with the tire! This reminds me of the condescending thread about this jack I participated in a long while ago (link below). You all marketed this thing as Rivan specific jack, but you can't change the tire per the directions from Rivian and you can't store the freaking thing in the Rivian tire compartment standing up. Can you please change the name to "Super Generic jack that may work with a Rivan in a pitch?" Also, no idea where that screenshot is from, but can you update your printed manual it comes with that info?

Looks pretty easy to read. Also, before lambasting the manufacturer for not including the note in the instructions, post the back side of those instructions...

Sir, I am sorry for the frustrations here - as I mentioned, happy to replace with a new jack, no charge. We stand behind the product as always.

I dont want to argue with you - but the very first words on the case say:

Read and follow all instructions at team1ev.com/jack
Rivian R1T R1S WARNING! EV Sportline Jack Fail! [PSA: Store a Bottle Jack in Proper Position] Screenshot 2025-02-01 at 3.29.34 PM

Additionally, there are two QR codes (one on the case and one on the jack) that when scanned go directly to our detailed directions.

And directions are also linked on the product page, and video.

We try to get this front and focused - In your case it didn't catch your eye, apologies for that miss - happy to replace the jack.

Have a good weekend!

Did you reach out to the manufacturer for help? Or did you decide scorched earth is step 1?
NO, Step 1 was to reach out to AAA for help as I needed to change my flat tire and didn't have a working jack. I have no need to reach out directly as I have no interest in a replacement. My goal was to warn others to go check on theirs, so they are not screwed if they need it in an emergency and it failed like mine.

Seems like it was not on his paper instructions and to expect people to also go to a QR code for something as straightforward as a pump is not realistic.
Glad you will replace it for him.

Most folks need instructions to see how our Rivian adapter works. Haven’t had this issue yet, so I’m confident most folks are seeing what they need to see ✅

1. if storing it flat leads to failure, it would seem like a good idea to print it and include it in the instructions. How many people scan a QR code on a jack to read the instructions online when they are included printed in the product. This is a CYA situation so you can modify the instructions after you've shipped the product to customers.

2. It clearly states "recommended" and not required. As a Rivian specific jack it can't be stored how you recommend in the R1T spare compartment like I'm sure 99% of R1T buyers are storing it. Even if "recommended" was printed on the box most R1T customers are going to lay it down when it doesn't fit standing up.

Anyway, my goal isn't to argue. I'm sure you all make decent non-jack products. My goal was to warn others. My bet is there are many who have a failed jack and unaware.
