I started reading this thread over the weekend while I was out of town. After driving around quite a bit today, I can report I am not experiencing any of this. The engagement is the same as before. There's no clunk or noise when the rear motor engages.

It's not a placebo, it happened the first day after the update came out.
bingo! submitted a service request for this issue in our 24 r1s dm max pack (not pleased about waiting 3 months for an appt) ?

Gen 1 DM. I notice a very subtle jolt post software update, as others have mentioned, but nothing I would remotely consider a clunk. It's noticeable, but barely. Wasn't noticeable at all before though. Are some experiencing an actual clunk/bang?

I will say, the throttle response is definitely improved from what it used to be. I'm constantly traveling and go weeks without driving my truck so i'm not sure when it happened/which recent update but that's noticeable too unless im crazy.

There is no noise, it's just a slam of having power added without being as gradual as before. You are right....it is quicker now. I'd rather have smooth power with max efficiency and the option of more power via sport mode.

Hey! We had that 3 weeks ago!

Rivian -- revert it back or I'll waste some more service dollars with a visit too. I'd rather not.

Since 2024.51.01 was released on Gen 1 Dual Motor performance, I have noticed that all purpose engages the rear Motor much more abruptly.

I'm trying to decipher whether I'm having an issue or not.

About 2 weeks ago just before the 2024.51.01 update, I had a turtle mode error and the rear Motor was disabled. I did a reset and it cleared the error and everything seemed to be OK. The update came out the next day, making it tough to pin this on software or timing.

I notice when on the highway at 60+ mph, when in all-purpose.... there is a bit of a thump when the rear Motor engages under higher throttle. I don't remember this before.

If I'm driving in all purpose and engage Snow Mode, the thump hits when the Motor engages. So it's clearly the engagement of the Motor. This all happened right around the update and that turtle mode/rear Motor disengagement.

Sound familiar to anyone else? Has anyone noticed a difference after the update? I posted a similar thread on this before but I didn't word it right or mention the Dual Motor.
Under all purpose, I have this same issue, buttery smooth before update, a noticable rear motor engagement on throttle at freeway speed after the update. I am disappointed with this change as all purpose should be super refined.

Sport mode is smooth at all speeds and drives amazing especially on curvy roads and accelerating from a stop, but unfortunately feels like it has less power at freeway speeds compared to all purpose. I cannot over hype how at lower speeds sports mode feels so tight on the road and has amazing throttle response!

Try snow mode as a more efficient alternative.

I finally noticed this yesterday myself. It’s a sound and accompanying thunk. They need to stop breaking things with updates. It was so smooth before!

I have a Gen 2 Dual max and I went on a road trip this weekend. I noticed a very subtle jolt when accelerating at higway speeds. No sound just a jolt.

So is this an issue with motors or just SW?

Software. 100% conclusion.

What reset did you do? just the steering wheel buttons or the one with the hazard light switch?

Awesome! hopefully fixed by a reset.
They will have to roll back the software version or update the next software. A reset won't fix this.
