As long as the issue is documented before 1y/12k mi then they will honor it. Tesla has a similar policy.

I have a delivery checklist and every Rivian owner should use that when. They take delivery. If issues are discovered file tickets immediately and notify your delivery guide if the issues are especially problematic you can either reject delivery until they’re fixed or reject the vehicle and ask to be matched with another VIN
well, that’s what I assumed. I was surprised they tried to stick me with a bill for issues I had reported before 1 year. When I pushed back, the response was “well, we’ll see what we can do.” That doesn’t sound like a firm policy….

BTW, I earlier said the brakes had their warranty reduced because I couldn't correctly remember. It was the 12 volt batter that now has a 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. At least that is what the Rivian tech (had a mobile service call) told me yesterday.

I’m surprised brakes are included, although wear should be minimal. Also, I wonder if Rivian would defer to the battery manufacturer for warranty issues. They certainly do on tires. within a few months of ownership I had the SC check tire balance. They determined one of the tires was defective and my recourse was to go some place like Discount Tire for warranty, not Rivian.

That is in fact the correct warranty period for the 12V battery(s) now. I don't know when it changed or maybe it was just never spelled out in the OG user manual back in 2022? But is 36mo/36K mi now.

I think the point is that lots of things have changed from the original 2022 vehicle warranty.

Yes that doesn’t sound good. I would advocate for yourself by explaining that at the time the requests were submitted the vehicle was within the adjustment warranty. Delaying repair does not allow them to skirt their warranty obligations.

yes, that’s precisely what I did. Seems like they have acquiesced and will cover these issues under warranty. I was just surprised they even tried to deny coverage as the issues were reported before 1 year. How is it my fault that I had to wait over three months to get a SC appointment? This issue must come up regularly, I was surprised they didn’t seem to have a clear policy of using the claim dates for determining warranty eligibility.

Has the warranty guide changed much over the years? I was surprised to see the Rivian Warranty Guide have so many iterations based on your effective date... but of course, didn't have the patience to compare different versions.

https://rivian.com/support/article/new-vehicle-limited-warranty-guide
I had to dive in and figure this out in December.
I made my first SC appointment in 2+ years of ownership for 3 items: panel alignment, door adjustment, & tonneau cover seal hanging. Initially, all items were invoiced at $0, and I signed it. A week before the appointment, a second invoice came with $400 for panel & door adjustment. Only the tonneau was covered.
I replied that I didn't want any work done not covered by warranty.
The items were removed, I signed & arrived at the SC for tonneau cover repair. (No work was done there as they told me they didn't have parts available- wasted time-)
It was later that I found the different warranty versions. There is no 12 month limit for adjustments in the warranty that was in effect when I took delivery. The limit was added on the next dated warranty version.
Now that I know this, I'll request the adjustments if/when they get back to me about fixing the tonneau.
