I'm putting off a demo drive (clearly not in a hurry to buy, my Lightning is doing just fine, I've always just liked the Rivian vehicles and our next vehicle will be an SUV) until this is open because I don't want to deal with driving in downtown Portland any more than absolutely necessary.

Exterior is complete with window graphics. So, the time draws near. The customer engagement team is in the opening planning stage so won't be long now. My guess of Mid-March is looking promising. There is a little finish work inside to complete, but nothing that would take more than 2-3 weeks.

Not that it's much better, but there will be demo drives available from the auto show next week. I'm not positive yet how they are working it, but it will likely originate outside the venue, so you may be able to walk up without having to enter the show. If I find out for sure, I can let you know.

Yes - this is a soft opening. They've been doing this for a while. They'll open a week or two prior just to let the staff get their sea legs and training complete before the opening events.

I'm going to be driving up tomorrow to take another look. Last time I was there, the electricians happened to be there. Sounded like the planned charger stalls in the parking structure are delayed and they weren't sure why or if it was just not going to happen. Everything is wired there for them, just no chargers.

Huh...chargers would kinda be important for the whole demo drive thing...hopefully it's just a delay and not a permanent stoppage.

Very true. I'm sure it was just a case of them not knowing. I'll see what I can find out tomorrow.

Portland Rivian Space in Bridgeport is opening tomorrow March 14th ! Bridgeport Village is even getting in the spirit as they sent out an email today (see the link below) to their followers this morning.

I plan to be there tomorrow morning and hang out for a few hours. Just look for the guy that looks out of place and has a goofy grin on his face.... For any Rivian Clubs of America paid members of the Portland chapter, I will have the club t-shirts and name badges with me. Feel free to poke me and grab yours if you don't have them already. If you aren't a member, but would like to learn more, head to the website - https://rivianclubs.org/

I did take a moment to check the chargers that are in the parking structure. There are 4 of them and they all seem to be set to charge at 40A (10kw) and are also free. There will likely be demo drive vehicles parked there, but I believe a couple will still be available for visitors.

As a reminder - this is a SOFT opening. The grand opening events are still going to be the weekend of April 5th & 6th. Stay tuned for more information and sign up links to attend owner specific events. We will try to roll in a quick meet up off site and do a caravan style entrance if the situation provides. This is always fun to get your 15sec of fame in because Rivian records these things and posts them for everyone to see ? .

All that said, still feel free to visit them anytime starting tomorrow, greet the team and hang out. Most spaces are designed to allow folks to just relax, perform a little work, or whatever. They will be excited to meet everyone.

Awesome, thanks for the update! My wife and I will probably head up there on Saturday and meet some Rivian-enthusiast friends (not current owners, but R2 pre-order holders).

Maybe the exposure will inspire my wife to let me start the trade-in process of our Lightning against and R1S dual large...

They had a pretty good lease deal going on the Dual Standard. I believe that ends on the 15th though.

We put too many miles on our vehicles to do a lease...we only ever have one vehicle at a time, and drive way more than most leases have the option for (~23K miles on our 17 month old Lightning).
