I didn't realize what a game changer cooperative steer for me is, but it is!
I have begged Tesla for this ability for years. I am certain it will be a huge benefit.

Which build/version of the software are you using? There was a "Sunny" something that I saw long ago that seemed to be making more new features than the main codebase.

I wish my Tesla had this too. It is one of my favorite features of Comma.

I am on release3-staging fork 0.9.9 currently.

No option to use Sunny, Frog, Dragon, etc. as the Rivian code hasn't hit main release yet though Rivian is supported.

Having never had another vehicle with anything as fancy as Driver Assist, my wife and I are very happy with the way the Rivian works (even with it's limitations). I was excited to see that OpenPilot was available for other vehicles and then was saddened that my two other rides are one year off being compatible (2016 Highlander and 2019 Outback). It would have been really nice to have OP in one of them for long drives.

Any word on progress for Set.Speed issue?

How does Rivians ACC work at slower speeds including places where traffic might come to a complete stop? What's the min speed you can engage Acc? I never use ACC by itself only with Driver+.

Has anyone with comma installed the latest vehicle update? I’m reluctant now. I never want to loose it this.

This will sound silly to some, as it elevates form over function, but I really hate the idea of affixing a phone sized controller to my windshield under the already bulky rearview mirror assembly. But that's really the only drawback I see here, and once the speed functionality is resolved, it will be hard to resist pulling the trigger despite the eyesore element.

I agree with your sentiment. In addition there's the also the responsibility of taking it down to keep it away from prying eyes. Even parking in the garage at home most nights, I can envision at least 4-5 times per week where I'd want to take it down and move it out of sight. Yeah, there are magnetic mounts that help with this task, but it's still a task no matter how minor.

At least it's a very nicely made, clean, and shapely little box.

Nobody will know what it is, so thieves will think it's just another weird EV thing.

Take this with a grain of salt but I talked with the engineer who ported this to the Rivian and they're not concerned with updates breaking the functionality. The busses it reads aren't encrypted and doing so would be a massive task with no obvious benefit. As far as I know, no other car manufacturer has bothered to make an effort to disable Openpilot functionality. I don't think you need to sweat an update breaking your Openpilot.

I think there's some progress going on behind the scenes, but I haven't seen it publicly yet. The minimum speed that you can engage ACC is zero, but there are some curious constraints on when and where you can do that. For example, you can't do it in your driveway and you can't do it parked on the side of the road, but you can do it in traffic if you were stopped, or if you try very hard, if you're parked behind another car and you're near a line on the road. It's not clear what the Rivian engineers were thinking and how exactly they have restricted low-speed ACC engagement.

thank you. I updated tonight and will report back tomorrow if there’s any issue with the comma.

Shouldn't the Rivian ACC engagement issue be moot when/if the set speed issue is solved? Wouldn't it use Open Pilot for longitudinal control?

I’m not certain. You can only send a set speed signal if acc is active. If longitudinal control works by intercepting and impersonating acc signals, engagement still needs to be worked out.

I have the same concerns, not only it looks out of place but can get you a ticket in some places for obstructed view.
Now, if they had a discreet version without the screen, I would be all over that. But for now personally it is not appealing to me.

Seriously, do we really need another screen in the car? Lol
