That's a stupid joke. Tesla is one of the cheapest company on earth.

They have a beta, FSD software and people PAY $99 a month to use it. They are doing work, testing it while paying to do so.

If tesla right now needed an entire map of the USA and every road with correct signage, lane markings, etc. they could have it done for free

Tesla employs probably 1000 people who make $40-50K a year doing data labeling.

Tesla could get that $50 million of labor for free if they really wanted to

HW3 is prevalent but tesla did not sell full autonomy except in 2018. So the number of HW3 which paid for a full autonomy package is very low. And tesla offered many of these 2018 owners FSD transfer, so they have switched to HW4

The number of people in need of a retrofit is so low that tesla could theoretically give them a brand new car

in fact your car does more than what you paid for

Tesla made statements in public which were "puffery" but on the order page they were very clear about what they were selling.

Rivian actually sold hands free driving to Gen 1 owners. They also sold the car as having 360 sensing which is false given that the mobileye product they use does not support 360.

I'm well aware of what I paid for, and at the time bought it to see the journey to actual self-driving which has been interesting.

But your statement makes it read like you're saying people could only buy FSD in 2018, it was available for purchase long beyond that with HW3.
