Jeez people. Chill out. Give the OP a break. He asked a ligit question and some of you want to nitpick the verbiage rather than address his actual concern. BTW, searching for specific info on this site is a joke. i agree that a search MAY provide a desired answer, but If everybody did a thorough search prior to asking a question or making a comment, this forum would be a small fraction of what it is. I say, if a person doesn’t have something constructive to add to the conversation or just wants to bitch somebody out, then STFU. Sorry - feeling a little testy, today 🫤 As you were ✌

Well, the same could be said of the OP. Chill, do some research. this same topic has been discussed many times, then post if you still have a doubt. At least try to do some data gathering before posting.

and yes, some of the replies could have a little more empathy. But, with the same ease that the OP could express themselves, so can others.

This topic is akin to the delivery fee gripes. Just saying.

Like everyone else, my paperwork said 100 but it actually had about 10. I understand 100 miles is the limit for a “new” vehicle and I believe Rivian is just putting the max in rather than verify actual mileage. This makes some sense since all the buying is done online and Rivian usually needs to transport their vehicles, which can add a few miles above what the actual was when paperwork was signed. But this is disconcerting since the form states this IS the mileage. It was for me, so you are not alone. But it should be just fine.

Not like the people doing the paper work has physical access to the vehicles. And imagine how inefficient it would be if they have to call around to get someone to go and take an actual reading. It's just a generic placeholder because they can't leave the field blank. You will see actual odometer reading at time of delivery.
To be fair, I could see people making the assumption that a vehicle which relies so heavily on software and connectivity could be queried remotely to get the mileage at the time the documents are created. This wouldn’t involve phone calls and tracking down vehicles.

I suspect it simply isn’t worth the trouble or maybe Rivian will get there in time. For now, add me to the list of folks who got a car with way less than the 100 miles shown on the paperwork.

The problem is, the "miles at delivery" may not match "miles at paperwork creation."

My vehicle was driven 17 miles from the local prep center to my house by a Rivian employee, it wasn't delivered on a truck.

When delivered, my vehicle had 28 or 29 miles on the odometer. Which means if, when they did the paperwork, it had 9 miles on the odometer, and they delivered it to me with 28 miles, but paperwork saying 9; they would have just committed fraud.

So they put 100. Because they know basically no vehicle will ever hit 100 miles before delivery. (And that is the limit for a vehicle to count as "new".)

Just received my signing contracts via email and they say the Odometer reading is 100?
Isn't that high for a vehicle supposed lying coming from the factory. I live in Chicago

For me, the trigger is “so called new car”. It just suggests that OP sees that everyone is out to get them. And it suggests zero research…anywhere.

“rivian invoice says 100 miles” in google and the answer is in the literal first link. In fact, don’t even have to click the link.

I would think that enabling that would open a Pandora’s box of odometer tampering.

No one would have jumped on OP if they hadn't phrased their question like Rivian was trying to pull a fast one on them. People here are getting a little tired of the constant negativity from new posters.

Accessing this forum and asking the question IS research. What the OP did was very logical. This isn’t something you find in the owner’s manual or Rivian paperwork.

Sure. Way more work and asking a community to do your research is exactly the way to go. Why should OP attempt to help themselves before asking everyone else to do it for them.

Cant figure out the answer to a problem, then come here. Not willing to lift a finger to help yourself and then asking everyone else to do it for you? You be the judge.

No, this is not way more work. It is less work. Someone in the community knows the answer, and no one is forcing you, or anyone else to reply. And if people can’t use the forum to find answers, honestly, what good is the forum anyway? I, myself, access it to learn things, not to bump fists with others. Otherwise it is not worth MY time.

I don’t understand your concern. Reading/viewing does not mean writing/editing and I don’t see how Rivian reading odometers remotely would lead to odometer tampering.

I’m confident that Rivian agrees with me about this since they already do this. Rivian is reading the odometer from the vehicle remotely and passing that value along to the app so we can check our odometer remotely.

My mistake. I misread your post
