Might be best practice to just remove these yourself before going to any shop. So easy to do and great for peace of mind, plus it allows for use of a lift. Pucks shouldn’t be used for a four point lift. I’d like to say that it’s fool-proof, but some dope always finds a way.

This is interesting. This is similar to removing the plastic panels when you have running boards.

Both of our Rivian Service Centers skip panel removal on 4-post lifts—they use magnetic jack pucks on all four corners instead.

Not to say it cannot be done, however it is not recommended by Rivian’s owners guide. I guess as long as the puck bases fit snugly within the lifting saddle, should be no problem.

I've had Discount Tire screw up so much stuff I won't let them touch my vehicles. I've watched them hang the brake calipers off the brake hoses (a big no no), I've had them rip the boots on my steering rack because they were too lazy to remove the clamps before adjusting the toe-in, I've had them cross thread lug nuts because they were too lazy to start the nuts with their fingers rather than their million ft/lb air gun, and more.

In Discount Tire's defense, I haven't found other large tire enterprises to be much better. I took a tire to Les Schwab to repair where the tire had a screw in it; I didn't watch the tech, so he called me over to the tire and said the screw went through the only patch on the tire; I didn't believe him (he wanted to sell me new snow tires, the customer at the counter next to me was being told the same BS) so I had the tech throw the spare on and I took the wheel and rim to another tire shop where they mounted it and it never lost air.

The only way I'll let anyone work on my vehicles at this point is if I can sit and watch what they are doing so I can stop them before they destroy stuff. I find it is less stressful and less time consuming if I stop them before they damage things. So far I've used the Rivian SC in my area for any work I've needed and I'm not looking forward to having work done by others.
