With all due respect, anyone who questions the range of EVs has simply never owned one. It is exceptionally rare to run out of range for an EV and is absolutely preventable with just a little planning. Never having to visit a gas station is absolutely wonderful and frees up so much time.No workarounds I'm aware of..... Bigger question is will they even successfully launch R2.
My guess is rivian will cut their workforce to where it needs to be.
Most of their experience centers or whatever you call them have non essential employees. Between a RIF and lower battery costs they'll probably be fine. Amazed they've made it this far with how many ways they are wasteful.
That being said they will have to stop being just good enough and start taking the hammer to ICE on range IMO to make it without government handouts. My next EV will not be a rivian with current range/lack of tech features offered by others.
Range anxiety isn't the issue it's frequency of stops and length of stops when driving longer distances is my beef with R1With all due respect, anyone who questions the range of EVs has simply never owned one. Exactly why EREVs are going to be exceedingly popular in the near term and why Rivian should be working with VW to co-develop one using shared tech.Range anxiety isn't the issue it's frequency of stops and length of stops when driving longer distances is my beef with R1
I can confirm this to be factual. I just took my 9 year old Model S on a cross country trip over 7k miles. These days the 80% range on the car is 170 miles, had zero issues on the entire trip charging. With all due respect, anyone who questions the range of EVs has simply never owned one. The few times you take a long trip, charging infrastructure is actually quite good now and you can easily plan charging stops. If you take the time you usually use to gas up a daily driver, the time saved while it charges overnight while you sleep more than makes up any time you charge on road trips. It’s not even close.Range anxiety isn't the issue it's frequency of stops and length of stops when driving longer distances is my beef with R1
Road tripping with a 9 year old is a whole different game than my baby,3 and 5 year olds lol. Even when I'm solo going long distances for work I find the stops taking much longer than I'd like them to ... Obviously I take the trade off for how great the truck is 95% of the time I'm not road tripping but hoping to see big improvement here asap.I can confirm this to be factual. I set ABRP to to the 4th dot on charger stops for more shorter stops, most charging stops were well under 15 minutes.
Agree whenever you can break things up and charge overnight it is a huge boost to the experienceThe few times you take a long trip, charging infrastructure is actually quite good now and you can easily plan charging stops. Well if they made a 3 row xdrive50e I'd be all over it. Erev I think is very practical for most folks with a shorter commute but do need a road warrior for weekends. The Volvo is also appealing to me but my wife's not a fan of the styling. Unfortunately my wife also drives an EV so road tripping we just make it work with what we've got!EVREs aren’t EVs, they’re ICE, which defeats the porpoise.

i dont think the R1s are affected by the incentives at all. are they? I thought they exceeded the price cap.No no. Demand will not go up to take advantage of the tax break. Those that wanted an R1, pretty much got one.
Rivian needs to sell as many cars are they can before the end of September. After that, their sales will continue to drop until the R2 launches. That’s a huge gap between September and Q1/Q2 2026 with very little revenue coming in.
There are lease incentivesi dont think the R1s are affected by the incentives at all. are they? I thought they exceeded the price cap.
Wrong. EREVs are EVs with a small and efficient ICE relegated to serving as a generator for electricity. Propulsion comes from the electric motors and the battery.EVREs aren’t EVs, they’re ICE, which defeats the porpoise.
