Well, I guess it could change but it's highly unlikely if they just put it in the S1 for investors. The estimate part relies on what percentage of owners you think will elect for it, I don't think they estimated what the cost would be (because they are in control of setting it).
I'd say it's a 99.99% probability that something materially close to $550/year is the answer. It's also possible that they don't announce anything for 11 months because it doesn't apply to anyone until then.
That is kinda disturbing that they are delivering vehicles to customers without clear communication on this regard. It is understandable that range will drop but it is not cool if the car you already fully paid for, after a year, has less functionality unless you pay a protection money to GOD father. All of a sudden you find out that you really didn't buy the car, you just rented it.
Sharing diagnostic information should be an option. Car should collect it but it only should be shared/used at owner discretion. I don't care what Tesla is getting away with. I suspect most owners wouldn't care and will share anyway but it should be an option not tied to any functionality.
The good news is by the time I get mine, you guys have already hit the one year mark.
