I can't imagine why, today, anyone in their right mind would spec a retractable rear window that cannot be controlled by the driver and the connected mobile app.
Of course in the R2 it will be control by the app, unlike the 4runner.

There's a video of someone at Rivian talking about this. I can't remember the details, but if I remember right he was talking about not needing to "hide" anything, but they were more wanting to have fun with it and sort of play along with the tradition of doing something.
Yeah, my problem isn't with Rivian doing it, it's with people calling it "camo". This isn't "automotive camo." It's just a fun design.

Previous/current 4runner owners just came
Current 4Runner owner here. While I did not get quite *that* excited, the roll down rear window is one of the best and most useful features for me. That sold me one the R2. I'm amazed at how often I use it in my 4Runner.

You might notice there appears to be another camoed one inside on the second pic
I think that's an R1S as it has the extra rear door glass that the R2 doesn't have.

This R2 appears to be sporting the internal aluminum 20" test wheels that were also used on the R1.

Useful to see which Jeep you're towing out today, lol

They’ve already said it’s for prototype testing. Not representative of production wheel.

That's an interesting shape. Lots of straight lines without much curvature. A major departure from current trends. I'd like to see it without the camo and the distortion from the telephoto lens.

What’s going on in the wheel wells? Brake callipers are different colours similar to a skate board build photo. Anyways seems like a lot of foil tape in spots. I hope this R2 makes it.

And the 2-point rear bumper accessory “hitch”
That won’t make it to production IIRC

The roll down rear window making it (assuming so) to production is fantastic! It's a huge positive impact on the utility of the vehicle.
