I have had issue with my Delta Pro 3 not being able to power my 1500w RV AC while plugged into the Rivian outlet. I am wondering if I lower the input to say 400w or so , it would force the DP3 to power the RV with the battery and not attempt to passthrough the power directly from the Rivian
As far as I know, the DP3 does not have the capability to charge and discharge at the same time like the DPU. But give it a try by lowering the output to a number under its limit to see what happens.

I tried that as well and it kept tripping the rivian outlet whenever there was a surge in demand on the dp3 from the house.

My understanding is that the DP3 inverter can't take in 120 AC and output 240 AC without passing through (ie taking straight from rivian).

My successful work around has been to get something to convert my 1500W AC Rivian outlet into DC power which can go into the solar port in the DP3 while it's providing 240V to my house.

This is what I used..

BOSYTRO DC 48V 20.8A 1000W... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CWTY3G1C

Interesting, what's odd is the DP3 can easily power the RV when not plugged into the Rivian, and the Rivian can successfully charge the DP3 when the RV isn't drawing 1500watts for the AC.
The Dc power supply is an interesting workaround

there was no soldering in my setup.

here is everything I bought.

MC4 Cable I cut this in half and wired it so red and black lined up with the polarity of the power supply.

Ring connectors to attach cable to the power supply. I crimped these connectors onto the cut in half cable.

Im going to try to replace this setup by using the XT90 output from the power supply with this cable to make it a little less janky.

Power Supply
Power supply cable rated for 15A.
10AWG extension cord
I have one final change to my setup. The XT90 cable I ordered didn’t have the right polarity MC4 connectors so instead I got an XT90 pigtail 10AWG cable and a MC4 connector kit to make my own cable that matched up with the Low PV cable on the EcoFlow.

After all of this the power will likely not go out for years.
Hi Ratchickens, apologies for reviving a somewhat oldish thread. I am in the PNW as well and now looking for options around using my Rivian for whole home backup. I mean I use it today, but only run a few appliances using the onboard generator with extension cords (for e.g. the tankless heater, garage freezer, home fridge). The extension cord life is painful to say the least, but it works.

I am looking at the Bluetti Apex 300 which can output 240v while charging at 120. Having said that, I am fully expecting it to go into passthrough-mode when charging it by the Rivian. Meaning, the same 1500w or lower limits, which is less than ideal and defeats it's purpose when buying it for multi-day use without buying it's extended batteries for thousands more.

My reason for quoting your responses is:
1. The links you provide are now blocked somehow. If you don't mind providing them again, that would be helpful.
2. Maybe a sentence or two on how you set up all the parts together one more time including all the connectors?

Appreciate the help!

The only real home brew part was putting the MC4 connectors on the XT90 cable to enable connecting to the Low PV cable on the DPU.

here is how it’s connected up:
Rivian -> extension cord -> power cable -> power supply-> home made XT90 to MC4 cable -> DPU Low PV cable -> DPU

Let me know if you need any pictures.

I think I settled on 95V for the PSU to maximize draw from the Rivian inverter without tripping it. I haven’t had an outage long enough to justify breaking out the setup. I was out for 50 hours a couple weeks ago and got by running my generator for a couple hours to top off the DPU.

Gotcha, this helps a lot. Yeah we had lost power a couple of weeks ago but only for a day or so. Rivian kept some things running that time with extension cords running inside the house as well.

I wouldn't mind taking a look at the pictures post the power supply in the chain above. That should click for me. I appreciate you taking the time!

Finally ran into a case where I needed to use the AC to DC converter. I now have two DPUs connected to a 50A hub which means I can’t use a generator while outputting.

here is the setup with the DC power supply connected to the generator. I’d be the same connected to the Rivian.
