The film really helps with the comfort in the summer sun. You can feel the difference, and the truck cools down a lot quicker.
I concur.

I finally got a chance to run the truck through the touchless car wash, it's looking good after!

Advice for install: make sure your squeegy is really clean, preferably new, and use the soft side. I scratched my film using the hard side off the bat. Good news is I only notice it if I look for it.

Can anyone say how the heat rejection is in cabin with sunroof-PPF only?

I get that the windshield is probably the top heat contributor, but after doing the full PPF kit on my truck, I'm not super eager to tackle the see-through surface I will be looking through 99% of the time. The sunroof I can fudge my way through and be OK with if I mess up a bit.

that's what I was alluding to in my post. The heat rejection makes it very comfortable when the sun is beating down on you. I don't have my windshield done, but a definite noticeable difference in cabin temp with the roof pieces installed. I also have TWraps 30% ceramic tint on the side windows. Collectively, it helps keep cabin temps in check when the HVAC is running. It doesn't do much when the truck is parked in the sun and no HVAC, as there's still heat transfer from the body panels, but when you're up and running, it stays comfortable easier than without.

Technically speaking the UV+IR film has 85% IR rejection. I tested this myself (I have a Tint Enforcer device, similar to what police use) and can confirm.

This is going to be so nice next summer!

I had my first test of the protective factor today after being cut off by a sod truck: it passed!

Wow! Did the film get any damage? It will be interesting if it will self-heal if it did.

That bottom dot looked pretty deep, like the pointy end hit there, I'll spray it in the morning and see if there's still an indent. And follow up after a couple days.

Notice the self healing is activated by heat...you may want to hit it with a heat gun or just park on the driveway and let the sun do its job.

Ok that one healed up, can't even find it anymore. But I've got a better one for you:

Rivian R1T R1S Windshield & Sunroof Protection Film - DIY Pre-Cut / UV + IR Blocking (TWRAPS) 1000005719

It popped so loud, it made me jump. I was sure there'd be a crack or chip. I can feel the film deformed, and even see it at the right angle.

I'll update on this in the future. Save #2 by the film!

Wow!!! What's up with the roads where you live?! I get a rock flying my way just a few times a year, you've got 2 in a month 😬 Any idea if the film tore (i.e. if the rock went through and made contact with the glass?)

I really don't get why I'm a magnet for them. My wife never gets hit. I do 70 in the 60, using Rivian's closest follow distance with Highway Assist; to me, that feels and sounds normal.

Before spray/wiping:
Rivian R1T R1S Windshield & Sunroof Protection Film - DIY Pre-Cut / UV + IR Blocking (TWRAPS) 1000005723

After wiping:

Doesn't look like a tear, just a crater. I'll park facing the sun tomorrow and see if it heals without heat gun assistance.

Umpf, that's a tough one. I will genuinely be surprised if it self heals... chemistry was never my strong suit, but my understanding is that these polymers tend to sort of "melt" from heat to the extent where their molecules can re-join (heal) without falling apart like traditional melting... but that of course has its limits and this looks like a pretty decent dent. I hope it recovers! Please keep us posted, it seems you will be the guinea pig for this one because I haven't gotten a single hit for the past ~2months since I have this on my Rivian and I've been intentionally driving behind trucks to get hit for testing.

Done any testing with a car that is parked outside? After just 3 months, my XPEL WPF was removed today with warranty claim filed. It started to get slightly hazy last month, to full-on beer goggle blurry this past week. I had Exoshield, before XPEL, for over a year and a half and it was never this bad. It was replaced in May only because of amount of fine scratches that accumulated (from the wiper and the phantom wipes).

Yes on mine (R1S) and my wife's Model Y but unfortunately not as long...I've had it for about 2 months now - so far so good! I realize that's not a long time though so let's see. We have 0 hazing though and no noticeable scratches, just one defect caused by me during installation.
