Starting to think my summer '21 R1S will be in early '23. Still super exciting!

"To Max pack and Explore preorder holders who have been with us since 2018 and 2019 whose delivery windows may push into 2023 — we value your loyalty and commitment and will be reaching out to you in January to gauge your interest in reconfiguring to an Adventure Package with Large pack battery so that you can take delivery in 2022."

So I'm a Mar 2020 max pack preorder. Guess that means even if I downgraded to the large pack I still wouldn't get it in 2022. I have 200 miles between home and camp, and there is currently exactly 1 DCFC along the route adding a few more miles. On a slight positive, it's an EA charger and someone logged that they charged an R1T there at 165kw on Dec 21st. Still, with cold PA winters and the potential for very light towing, not sure I trust a large pack on 20in ATs on that route. Even Rivian's map of future chargers with estimated location markers look like they chose to ignore those of us that enjoy adventuring in the 1/2 million acres of the Allegheny National Forest and additional 1/2 million acres of public land in north central PA. Not happy right now. Expected. But not happy.

Checked plugshare again. There is 1 more DCFC, but only 55 miles into the trip. And someone charged an R1T there on Xmas. So at least there seems to be an employee or some off the social media grid R1T owner at least traveling through Western PA.
Pa does not have extreme cold winter weather. 50s for the next three days in Western PA as I type this. No real snow. Much colder in the upper Great Lake states.

Wow

I just received an October-December 2022 window for an early October 2019 R1S order in Tennessee, which means that people who ordered six-months ago will be taking delivery before I do.

the only reason I didn’t get a Launch edition was that I was holding out for the Max Pack, which apparently doesn’t have a timeline anyway.

I’ve been very patient, and my 2015 Model S is still doing well, but I’m really not happy about this. My order number is well under 20K.

Knowing what I know now, I wish I just went with the LE as well. I put in for adventure because I wanted to wait for the max pack for the R1S....doubt I am willing to wait until God knows when in 2023, so I think I ended up with the worst of the 3 options (Adventure Large pack v LE v Adventure Max pack)

Same.
I am a Jan 2020 R1S holder and wanted the Max Pack and it really grinds my gears that people that ordered a week before the configurator went live will get theirs before me.

71k preorders. “Vast majority are Adventure with large pack”. So let’s assume conservatively that it’s 40k. 20% are max pack preorders or about 14k. Add them together and you get 54k. 71k minus 54k equals 17k for Explore trim and Launch Edition. 2k conservatively for Explore trim and that leaves 15k for LE.
I went back to re-read RJ's letter and I'm not certain that the Launch Edition R1T/R1S total is separate from the "vast majority are Adventure with large pack" population. I think from a production standpoint, the "Adventure with large pack" likely includes the LE models.

It's too early for me to think clearly (i.e. no coffee yet - too wrapped up in analysing the stages of understandable grief throughout this thread) but guessing those vehicles are all in the same pool of numbers, some just with discounted pricing and extras for ordering early. From the beginning it seemed like we were to expect 12 different variants: three batteries (small, medium, and large) for two vehicles (R1T & R1S) in two trim levels (Adventure & Explore). So, as requested by @jjswan33, 3Ă—2Ă—2=12.

Not trying to be a smart-aleck, just thinking from the beginning that the L.E. vehicles were nothing more than an earlybird bonus package of the Large Battery Adventure models. If that's true, I'm not sure we can yet discern how many of the 71,000 orders are for Launch Editions.

I hope we find out more about the breakdown of these numbers "in the near future". ?

Edit: Having read back to catch the flurry of entries in this thread, I see @kurtlikevonnegut (and maybe others) previously had the same idea about the likelihood of the LE numbers being a subset of the Adventure count. BTW, I’m well into my fourth cup of coffee. Life is good! ?

After reading and digesting the Rivian email this morning, I have A couple of concerns. My pre-order is for an Explore Package R1T. I placed the pre-order and deposit in November of 2018.

It would appear from the email that Rivian will fill Adventure Package orders before the Explore Package orders. As Adventure and Explore pre-orders are still available. Theoretically, an Adventure order placed today will be produced before my two year old Explore order.

This concerns me for two reasons. I will probably not get my R1T order for at least another year, maybe more. On top of that, if my truck is put at the back of the line, Rivian may reach the 200,000 unit threshold where the $7,500 Federal Tax Credit will go away.

If my early order gets pushed back far enough to miss out on the tax credit, I would really be upset with Rivian.

Same here, also in SE PA. I kinda hoped we'd get some deliveries out this way sooner due to our proximity to NYC. But I'll take what I can get!
Can't wait to see some R1's driving around here

Your Adventure Package R1T estimated delivery window will be the second half of 2023

I think this is based on having max pack configured, which I removed this morning but I am guessing is not reflected in that date.

I'm seeing quite a few R1S and R1T preorders from the past month that are the second half of 2023 and have the Adventure package. So I do not see that happening, but I feel for you regardless

Just got mine. Switched from max pack to large this morning, so appears the system doesn't account for that. Oct 2020 pre-order.

Your Adventure Package R1T estimated delivery window will be the first half of 2023.
